Sound from Front Drivers Side Wheel Area...
Alright I've tried a few searches and they don't really apply to my problem...most sound like axle problems...There is this loud "thud" sound coming from my front left wheel area...It happens when I turn my wheel when backing out and when I come to a stop....I don't believe it my axles b/c it isn't a popping sound and they are only 5 months old, it's more like a loud thud or clunk...I've heard from different people that its a ball joint....There isn't much play coming from the strut, so I don't believe its the strut...I hate suspension does anyone have any suggestions on where to look first and what to look for? Could it be a bushing or link gone bad? I just don't want to go buy the ball joint or control arm and it not really be the problem...Any ideas would be appreciated
I'm pretty sure its not the CV joints they are less than 5 months old and carry a lifetime replacement on them...The boots are fine and it isn't locked up either....
What I am saying is that I pulled them out and checked them out....They're fine from I could tell I mean I'm not completely certain but like 99% they are good...No cracks...Moves freely and everything....It's gotta be a suspension problem...
how old is the car, i get kind of a clicking noise on my right front side because the bushings on the LCA's are bad, mine is a 1994, OEM tend to decay over time

It's a 95 EJ2 with 115,000 on the chassis....As for the noise its just one loud thud and it happens when I apply my brakes...but also when I back out while turning...

then my car is doing the same thing. I haven't dianosed it yet, because it doesn't seem like a pressing issue. I'm gonna check it out sat. are your brake pads low too?

I will, if i figure it out.

I doubt it is a wheel bearing. Bearings usually will make a grawling sound and will tend to go away when taking corners (takes weight off of that particular bearing) Axels make a clicking sound, and mostly on sharp turns when accelerating. Sound more like a lower ball joint. even though the boot isn't broken or split, it can still be dried out. My old acura did the same thing.
Good luck

I know its not a bearing....I know what a wheel bearing sounds like....and its not it...I'm guessing lower ball joint....I'm gonna probably replace the control arm...Most people I know have just been like drive it til' it breaks...**** THAT! Something could seriously get messed up.....I will eventually figure it out....Soon
I would suspect lower balljoint as well. I replaced my lower ones, as well as the upper ones (found some cheap OEM upper control arms with 30k miles) and the problem went away. Why are you replacing the control arm for the lower balljoint? No need for that really.
Phil, just go ahead and put those big *** tires on your wheels, and drive it until you hear a loud noise! Then stop, if it's possible, if not, you'll eventually stop when you hit something big enough.
