blew motor once again...JE pistons BROKEN...
poo poo..i dunno wut da hell happened. I was racing a CRX turbo ZC and my car died. I try to start it back up and wont start. Crank it for 5 minz and it starts but i have to keep giving it gas, white smoke everywhere out my exhaust. I go home and take the head off with a few friends and...wut do u kno, JE Pistons broken. I'm guessing the valvepoo poo the top of the pistons. Compression test came out with 2 and 4 having 0 comppression. Cylinder walls feel really rough where the pistons are broken. Now i'm out of a car w/ school and work to attend. What should i do? REbuild once again or sell the turbo and go b20Vtec. LATeS.
I found a Benson b16a block that has been resleeved and overbored .20. He's selling it for $650 w/ balanced crank. I dont plan on boosting enough where i would need a standalone. So should i get this block then? Or just stick to a stock block? And also...should i get low compression pistons again? I saw a post that said that high compression+low boost = more efficient hp. Give me some opinions...thanks.

I raced from 3rd to a little in 4th. I shifted at 7900rpm. As for the fuel, i was using vortech fmu, b&m fuel regulator, airtek fuelpump, 440ccinjectors. Of course a standalone would be nice but i dont have that kind of money to spend like that. I'm hoping my block isnt bad enough where it needs to be resleeved. I'm hoping it will be able to be overbored .5 over. If not i might get a benson sleeved block for $650. As the pistons, they were 9:1 compression. I'm most likely gonna get stock compression rollerwaves and run lower boost now.
you blew your second motor, and thinking of a rebuild, and
I dont have that kind of money to spend like that. .
i suggest staying stock, and spend your money in tuning your new motor..

Yea its the 2nd motor i blew but the rebuild only costed like $1000 cuz a few friends and i did it. I bought the turbo and didnt kno i would blow my motor. If i knew that i would have spent the rebuild money on the standalone. This rebuild will put me $4K in debt. As for the fmu..it was 12:1
i dont know how you build motors and stuff. But Je pistons dont usually just break. You probably did something wrong that caused that to happen.
I didnt do anything wrong when i rebuilt man..I rebuilt the bottom end correctly. If i did something wrong...i'm sure my motor would've lasted 6months with 12psi like that. Btw...how da hell do u put pistons in wrong? put them in backwards?..no i'm not an idiot....
My only conclusion is...i leaned out. and need to pay off debts and get a standalone.

Oh yea...it looks like the valves hit the top of the pistons on the intake side. Thats where the pistons are broken.

just a wild guess, but running 12psi w/ a vortech 12:1 FMU and 440cc injectors.. that means your fuel pressure was close to 200psi at full boost.. I kinda think u siezed your injectors, causing u to lean out.. and kaboom
just a guess though
just a guess though
i am not saying you stoopid. I am just saying pistons just dont break if you dont do somethign stupid.
Theres alot more stuff involved in building a motor correctly. Like Tom stated ring gaps, clearances, valve adjustments so many things.

thanks man. I'm looking into doing a b20 vtec instead of rebuilding now. I dunno...we''ll see. I just need a damn car to drive to work and school. Thats all i'm worried about rite now.
btw..i guess that makes sense with the ring gaps and clearances and everything. I'm sure i didnt do it perfect but it sure did last a pretty decent while.

So i'd be better off going ls turbo instead of b16turbo? I'll have to look into that. Doesnt sound like a bad idea tho. Thanks for the help guyS
