Handling characteristics
Hey guys, is it true if I lowered my car 1.5 in the front and 1.75 in the back that I would experince better handling and less understeer (I believe) than having 1.75 all around or 1.75 in the front and 1.5 in the rear? I've been talking to some people about this and I just wanted to make sure that having the rear lower would make a considerable difference or some kind of edge...thanks
A lower rear ride height would mean lower instant centers, which would mean less geometric/kinematic weight transfer, which would mean more elastic weight transfer, which would increase the time for weight transfer to occur, which would allow more grip due to slower tire force variation, which would mean your car would understeer.
See it's so simple.
Seriously, it's not that big of a difference, but generally (!) reducing the roll center will increase the grip at the expense of response. What that means for your car depends on 6 million things.
Summary = blah blah blah more understeer unless your shocks bottom out blah blah blah i am a fan of chicken

If your going to get adjustable shocks (I recommend Koni Sports), you can adjust the handling characteristics to an extent. They are certainly worth the money for the tunability. If this is a street car, I would lower it for looks (with proper rates for your desired height), and then add good shocks & sway-bars to adjust the handling.
I'm lowered 3" and my civic handles like a go-kart (never raced it though)...

probably 1.75 all around, for all around appearance and handling?
