ZC16 SOHC from Attarco? Anyone done this?
I have been googling and searching for a short while but have not found what I am looking for.
I still have my 89 Civic DX hatchback and the engine is dead now. It is my car but my brother drives it.
So...
http://www.attarco.com has what they say are SOHC ZC16 motors and am wondering if anyone has performed this swap before?
We are not going for power, just an inexpensive replacement, $250 for the motor, $290 for the tranny from Attarco.com wth free bay area delivery.
What other parts will I need to get to do this swap other then motor and tranny?
We are going to install a new exedy clutch as well while we are at it.
Also, I am in California. We also need to get a new cat cause the one thats on there is OEM and totally dead!
Thanks in advance folks!

yeah i helped put a sohc zc from attarco in my friends crx. They have decent prices and a warrenty be sure to get a new water pump because it voids the warranty if it over heats. i would highly recogmend a zc if your on a budget. you want to get an 88-91 si tranny from a pick n pull its usually cheaper there be sure to get the clutch for that year transmission, convert to multi point fuel injection-$250 at a shop or do it yourself, and get an 89 integra ecu (more agressive then the pm6) then you should be good. if you get the zc tranny youll have to get the intermediat shaft from the zc and run 90-93 integra axles with the washers taken out of the hubs
Hey thanks for the reply.
I actually bought the clutch a long time ago, an oringal replacement.
I am guessing its no good for this swap then?
so as for what is good to swap, vs. what to swap to get it to pass smog.
If the current ECU will work and pass smog that is fine.
Basically the budget is $1,000 and if there is anything that can be re-used we would prefer to do it that way.
Will the stock transmission work OK and then be able to keep the stock axles?
Do you remember what the exact engine model is stamped on the block?

If its a JDM SOHC ZC 1.6 then all you need to know is that its a d16a6 with a hotter cam in it. The valve springs might be a little different also. So it will mount right up to the dseries transmission

that isnt true 3 of my friends passed smogg with zc's
use an si ecu though and basically make it the same as an si

I thought it was just the DOHC ZC motors that could not be smogged?
Anyways, Attarco now has D15b motors in for $250, I am just going to get one of those. IIRC that is the same as the stock motor.
