Default "Canadian" version of compuster alarm gets double the range?

Hey guys i'm in the market for a compustar alarm. I was looking on ebay because I just wanted to see what it had to offer. I found this link to a guy that ships from canada to the US and he happened to have the alarm that I was looking for. The weird thing is the guy states in the auction that the "canadian version" of the alarm gets double the range versus the US version. 6000ft vs 3000ft...

I was wondering if anyone could back his statement up or if you guys think it's all BS.

My next question is. How much would it cost to get that same alarm at a circuit city or something like that?
