Rounded Off Oil Drain Bolt...#!%&
I bought my '95 Civic w/ a D15B7 a little over a week ago. Bought some stuff to change the oil, jack it up, jump under there...The drain bolt is rounded off.
So here is what I need...
1)Is it a 17mm Bolt...
2)Is it standard threading (EX: Righty Tighty, Lefty Loosey)
3)Is the eaisiest way of removing it using the rounded nut removers I have and vice grips?
4)Will a replacement plug from an autoparts store suffice, or do I spring for OEM?
Thanks in advance guys.

If you have something to grab on to the bolt with a tight grip so when you turn the bolt it doesn't strip the head use it, I used a plumbers wrench for mines, and go oem the autoparts store didn't have the right one for me (weird) but keep it OEM.

Yes, it is righty tighty, lefty loosy. Anyway, to get the bolt off there are these vise 17mm that you can use. I got a set at AutoZone about a year ago. It fits on the head of the bolt and has thread that when you lossen it reverses onto the bolt. They come in different sizes and I'm sure there is one for your 17mm. Drain plug is fairly cheap, probably not even over $5.

the new plug is 3-4 bucks i think, can't remember even though i just had to buy one
use something that can get a really tight grip because usually those bolts are on tight as hell, i had to kick the socket wrench to get mine off

If the oil pan threads are a little stripped which they very well could be, then put a little plastic stretch wrap on the threads of the new oil drain plug to ensure proper sealing.
I've seen people use slighty tapered bolts so that they "reseat" when they reinstall them. I don't recommend it, but as long as it's not leaking with the stock bolt, I wouldn't bother it.
Just called the dealer. He has some in for a whopping $2.30. Im ganna pick one up on my lunch break today.
Thanks guys for everything.

yeah about $0.25 more
Id pick up a few extra washers. Honda says to replace the washer with every oil change. It deforms and creates a better seal, after a while of using the same washer it'll start to leav a little bit.
