88 vs 89 STD hatch, 88 vs 89 CRX HF
what are the differences between the 88 and 89 4-spd DPFI hatchbacks (STD.. the one without the rear wiper.. below the DX model) ?
what about the 88 vs 89 CRX HF?
(besides the rear LCAs....)
there is about 80 lbs weight difference on the STD hatchs from 88 to 89. obviously something changed.
the CRX HFs are the same so I would imagine they are unchanged from 88 to 89? AFAIK, the other 89 USDM CRX models have the seat belts on the doors.. whereas the HF model retained the pillar belt for an extra year in the states (again, AFAIK).
also are all 88 models without a clutch switch? does this make any difference whatsoever other than the fact that you can start it in gear? any reason why I would want to have the clutch switch?
were any "bugs" fixed from 88 to 89? (being that 88 represented the first model year) such as electrical system problems or anything else of the sort. perhaps someone has access to old dealer TSBs?
anyways. as always -- any help would be appreciated.

A $1500 option.
All you had to do was go to parts and buy the complete AC kit for $700 bux and install it yourself and you would have saved $800. Thats what my dad did when they bought my mom's car new in 1990, then later on they sold it to me.
As far as 88 vs 89. The major differences are 88-89 to 90-91. The STD: same engine, d15b1, same everything practically, but I can't think of any differences between 88 vs 89.

I have a 88std model and the weight difference that are posted up on HT probably are not that accurate. I believe the 88 and 89 std are basically the same. I don't know where they are going to make a 80lb weight difference between those years because their isn't **** in them to begin with. Unless they are listing the weight of a 89 with AC but then still the car isn't going to be 80lbs ac stuff doesn't weigh that much. My sister used to have a 90 std model and I couldn't even tell the difference between hers and mine. Besides stupid stuff like the bumpers and corner lights.
