Tilton 7.25" Carbon/Carbon Clutch Kit for Honda/Acura B Series (92+) Hydraulic Transmission $2500
From Tilton:
7.25" Carbon/Carbon Clutch-Flywheel-Assemblies offer the ultimate in clutch technology. Utilizing the same clutch technology found in F1, Tilton Carbon/Carbon clutches offer a great blend of high torque capacity, drivability and long life. The linear engagement characteristics and high heat capacity of the carbon matrix plates enable the clutch to be easily modulated / slipped, without overheating and damaging the plates. This characteristic also helps to reduce stress placed on other driveline components. The combination of the Carbon/Carbon clutch's extremely low inertia and the lightweight billet steel flywheel produces faster engine acceleration and smooth high-rpm shifting. Carbon/Carbon clutches also include two additional pressure plates that compensate for carbon wear, extending the life of the clutch before a rebuild is required.
Features:
- Tilton OT-II 7.25" Carbon/Carbon clutch assembly: Provides high torque capacity, light rotating weight and good drivability. All plates (driven & floater) are 100% carbon matrix. Features a race proven high strength aluminum clutch cover, minimizing deflection and providing quick shifting. Includes two additional pressure plates to compensate for carbon wear. Individually balanced and dyno tested. Includes a complete build sheet for the clutch.
- Billet Steel Flywheel: Lightweight billet steel design that is as light as aluminum flywheels, but have superior durability and safety. Machined from preheat-treated 4140 steel and surface heat-treated after machining for strength and durability. Ring gear is integrally cut into the flywheel for safety.
- Grade 8 Hardware: Complete kit of aircraft-quality, Grade 8 hardware mounts clutch to flywheel.
------------------------------
This a used, freshly rebuilt/inspected carbon/carbon clutch w/ Tilton flywheel. The clutch was rebuilt on 6-6-05 with new springs, new pressure plate, and has had the carbon discs resurfaced. The rebuild alone cost $475. I had the clutch rebuilt and inspected for wear to give the clutch a fresh new start for the new owner.
The clutch is currently factory sealed in the Tilton box from being rebuilt/inspected. The clutch comes with 2 additional pressure plates which are swapped as the clutch wears down over time. The clutch also comes with the orginal new and rebuilt spec/ load dyno sheets showing the orginial and current wear and holding capicity as of 6/6/05. Also included are Tilton wear gauges and instructions to measure the wear of the clutch over time.
The clutch new lists for $3670, I'm only asking $2500. This should be the last and best clutch you will ever purchase. It's used on all the top drag and road race cars around the world. You will NOT find a better clutch. I hate to see this go, but I'm selling the clutch in order to help pay off many bills not to mention I'm starting to get out of this sport. Again, the clutch is freshly rebuilt and tested by Tilton to factory specs. The clutch has some cosmetic scratches on the cover assembly from the transmission fork coming loose and rubbing against it. Due to the cost of this item, I will only accept cash, money order, or paypal (buyer pays for the service fee).
Here's the wear sheet info to better give an idea of the little wear that the clutch has:

**** I wish I was a crackhead, because that would mean I had MONEY to buy drugs! lol
Seriously though, I'm giving this clutch away at a killer price because I know its a select market who want this clutch. But whats crazy is that this clutch wears slower then any clutch on the market and it comes with "2" extra pressure plates. As the clutch wears down over the years, you just swap in in the next thickest extra pressure plate and its a new clutch again. Assuming that it needs a new pressure plate after 2-3yrs of wear, that would mean you have 6-9yrs on life on this clutch at the least. I have no idea on how long it takes to wear down, but I do know that pro racers have gone a few seasons/yrs on the same pressure plate. Lets now do the math:
ACT, Exedy, clutch masters $450-600 (for mid line)
Flywheel $280-400
Total $730-1000 for a clutch/flywheel setup that has been known to break, shatter, wear down, slip, etc... during various abuse and racing and will not last more then a few yrs. Plus if the clutch breaks it can cause engine damage from harmonics which can unbalance the crank. The tilton will take anything you give it and will last for many, many years. Oh yeah and the price of a rebulild once all the pressure plates are used is typically 15-20% of the cost of the clutch, which is around $350-500 which gives you a brand new setup!!!! As you can see long term, short term, wear/abuse factors... this is the clutch to own. I know it sounds like a sales pitch, but just do the math and think of the peace of mind knowing you have the strongest, longest lasting, indistructable clutch on the market and will not loose a race due to a bad clutch!
