air injection (d16y8)
I'm preping my y8 intake, I just want to make sure I have the correct hole plugged up.

In this pic, is it the darkend hole just left of the #4 intake flange or??

what head are you putting it on? what the guy said above is correct. I had to machine the upper part of the bolt flange and around the humps on the a6 head.
Call me stoopid but Im not seeing it.... :-( Here is the intake I have. The y8 (the one I want to use) on top. The A6 is the bottom one. Im putting it on the d15b2 head, same head as the a6.

That darkened spot is for the EGR valve. If your application doesn't use it, then there will be no hole there (ie, it is just a block off). If your applications does use EGR and your ECU has no provisions for it, you can block the hole. Or you can make a block-off plate to bolt where the valve is bolted. As for air injection, I have never heard of air injection on any Honda (or, for that matter, many non-carbureted vehicles). Are you sure air injection was ever used on a D16Y8?

I think it was the 99-00 manifolds. I have one that I am trying to use now. I should have it machined and completed tonight. I will post some pics.
You need to take out the humps on the back side of your head or machine the manifold flange to get it to fit.You must also fill the air injection holes also.

Bump for some more insight. I dont think I have anything to worry about with the y8 manifold (upper) but I want to make sure before saturday.

Also, air injection injects air into the exhaust in order to burn off hydrocarbons in the exhaust. I have NEVER heard of injecting air into the intake manifold.

I think they're talking about the fuel injection air control system. It lets some air through near the injectors to help atomize the fuel when the engine is cold.
