I wouldn't do it, I am sure you can afford something better.

What didn't you like about the VFR? It's a great bike. I'd buy it if I were in your shoes.

agreed... the vfr from that time period is great bike... a touch heavy, but very sound and very comfortable for long periods, the bike pictured here does not look like a good represenative of that model.

i drove by the guys house again today and saw it still for sale.. so i decided to take a longer spin now.. and the bike is real heavy (vfr 750) 94' - but it was fun to ride... he says all it needs is a new chain and sprockets... he says the honda dealership sells it for 180 .. does n e 1 know how much for installation?

The VFR is a great bike, but whether or not that VFR is a good bike is a different story. It might have some twisted forks or other messed up suspension and maybe thats why you didnt like how it rode....or maybe you just dont know what you're talking about hahaha j/k

This is my department since I've got a '96 VFR (looks identical to the bike you posted, except I've installed 929 forks on mine).

Do not pay more than $1000 for that bike. The plastics for the VFR come in a LOT of pieces, and they're expensive. All the underlying brackets should be replaced as well, or the new plastics will just crack soon after install. I've got the same problem on my bike...the previous owner was an idiot stunter wannabe who dropped the bike quite a few times. Total cost if you're buying new plastics from a US Honda dealer: nearly $3000 in plastics + brackets & tank. You can get plastics somewhat cheaper from a Canadian dealer, but it's still a hassle.

There's a lot of wishful thinking going on in that seller's head The VFR's are great bikes...I'm never getting rid of mine. A touch heavy, but solid and dependable. There are some really clean bikes on ebay for the same price as this rashed-up example. This would be a good project bike for $800-$1000, but not a penny more.
