hey guys, i havent posted in a while but here is my story. a while back i purchased an authentic backyard special lip from bulletproof automotive. after three months of waiting i finally get it, paint it and have it installed. (this was in october) yesterday i was pulling into a parking spot near my apt, and i bumped a curb. i thought little of this because i have done this before. it usually put s a new scratch on my lip but whatever. it turns out that this time when i looked at my lip it was not only broken but it shattered into like 5 pieces and was layin on the ground in front of my car. now i know i wasnt going fast when i pulled into the spot, actually i had to pay extra attention because some jerk was parked half in my spot. so i slowly squeezed into the spot (which was on an incline btw) and caused this kind of damage? this seems crazy to me. i waited so long and paid out the butt for this crap? i mean if it was fiberglass thats one thing but for urethane to crumble im really disappointed. this lip was over 400 dollars and the 3 month wait led me to believe i was recieving a superior product. i feel so jipped?

fiberglass or fiberglass reinforced plastic?

stuff like this happens. you might be able to get it repaired and reshot. just inquire with a competent bodyshop.

i know that the factory lip is a poly-urethane (flexible plastic).....

i would like to know what the exact definition of "urethane" is.......

if it fell apart like that i would think that it is some sort of fiberglass.....

 

fiberglass would break that easily, not urethane

 

Maybe you did pay too much. I paid $300 for a Mastergrade CF OEM style lip, picked up locally. Curbs and parking lot cement blocks could only scratch it. It took a phone pole to finally break mine into pieces, along with the front of my car. Ive had fiberglass bumper/lip on a crx, and even after hitting a dog it didnt break. =T I dont know what the deal is on yours, I'd say you got jipped.

 

hey guys thanks for the remarks.... my lip is def not fiberglass of anykind, not even reinforced. as to whether is the same plastic our bumpers are made out of i dont know.

to me it looks like the urethane had a set and became stiff. maybe it was an old lip but this thing broke like it was fiberglass.

i really hope to get pix for ya guys soon. but im real disappointed...

the link above is my exact lip, and that price didnt include the 130 dollar shipping cost or the 150 to paint it (mount it )mount it spa yellow pearl. this lip was so god awful expensive and while i got tons of praise for the real jdm goddie...... it was so not worth the wallet breaking experinece. i hate the way my car looks without it........ i want a warranty lol

Thanks Nishant. i have never met another person with that lip. i know there are some around but none i've seen. it really made me think the S on ricks badges stood for special edition. hehe. if it wasnt so much to replace and wait wasnt so long i would replace it but it honestly was a good $700 for everything and thats
