Default My S2000 is shaking slightly on idle

Engine rev is fine.

On idle after the car's been warmed-up, the car shakes lightly. Not a constant shake but intermittently, but frequently enough to notice a pattern.

Revv... shake shake... revvv.... not associated with engine revs dropping. steady at 900-1000 RPM

Any thoughts?

MAP is fine.

IACV probably. You can try tapping it or spraying with carb cleaner. Eventually you'll need a new one though.

When are plugs usually replaced on the S2000?

60K miles?

revhi, can you describe? I already have a new MAP with the modified plastic part that holds it tight.

I've owned this car for like 3+ years and haven't really noticed it until recently.

You know how when you turn off the car as the engine stops/tranny stops moving it kinda shakes? Similar feeling, but more subtle when idling.

I believe everyones car does this once in a while. Most common if its real hot or you drove for a while, parked a few minutes and than started it up again. As long as its not stalling it should be fine.

So what is causing it? Is my engine out of balance? Tranny? What?

that would rattle, not make the entire engine shake. the engine does shake the car when you turn it off. i have seen this on a few s2k's. like i said earlier, mine has went away since i bought my etd.

Exhaust moves. It doesn't necessarily have to rattle. If you have some push the exhaust back and forth on the muffler, you will feel the entire car vibrate.

What is an ETD?

I'm no noob, but I have the same question. It's probably something obvious, but I'm just missing it.

I have an 04 and its brand new and it does it too. I think its the driveshaft since it spins and is right underneath you, you are probably feeling it a little bit of feedback.

It does not really feel like the motor is causing it. I could be wrong, but I dont think it is anything to worry about. I have driven 2002 & 2004 & 2005 S2K's and they all do it.

The only S2K I have been in and dont remember feeling it was when I went for a ride in a supercharged S2K. However It was just around the block.

If you are worried about it and its still under warranty take NA's advice and let the dealer check it out
