help.. please... Low Oil engine light
Everytime I start my car. I get a low oil engine light for about 3-5 seconds. After its fine. Is it something I should be worried about? My oil is topped off. engine type b16a1
Pull your oil pan, pound it back out, and check your pickup for damage. Theres a good chance your pan is dented enough to block your oil pump pickup

Once it is pounded back out it should be o.k. Depending on how dented it was it could have displaced enough oil that your dipstick reading would be alright but it could be down a liter of oil.

The light doesn't show low oil. It comes on when there is less than 4.3 psi of oil pressure. Yeah, bang your oil pan out again. That will probably help.
it's normal for it to be on for a second or two on worn engines, but any more than that means it's not building enough pressure, be it really worn bearings, bad pump, clogged pickup, or a dented pan around the pickup.

It could also be the pressure switch..
If the switch is "gummed-up" with old oil/sludge inside,
It can cause the switch to react slowly
or not at all to the oil pressure..

Or better yet, go down to the local Pick-And-Pull and get a pan that is in good shape. And you might as well grab the pick-up whle you are at it.
