For some reason, for the past 3 months i never checked my oil level... i just got done doing my 3-month oil change today...
warmed the car up, drained the pan and filter, added a little bit more oil to help flush out the old oil like usuall...

put about 4.25 quarts in like usuall...

i go and take the old oil and put it in the 5guart jug my Mobile1 full-synthetic comes in... and the old oil only fills to 2 1/3 quarts.

Theres about 2800 miles at this oil change... could the Synthetic of breakin down that much? Or is there a problem? She runs fine, oil temp and pressure are always the usuall... whats going on here?

btw, 20k miles on my engine, started first 3k miles (changed 3 times in that first 3 k miles) with 5w-30regular Pensoil, then switched to Mobil1Full Syn. after that. Had the new engine for about 1 1/2 years.

Note: this new b18c1 engine is in '97 GSR

 

you been reving alot ??? because that could be a reason for the oil loss,,,,or maybe a leak

 

when i do rev, i only rev up 3500rpm or so... which is also where i shift when the engine is warm... and i'm usually at 4krpm on the highway... other then that i never take it above 4k

 

damn..that dont sound right...mobile 1 burns but not that bad...what are the specs of the engine? and is the driving mostly freeway? like 80+mph? downshifting alot? hitting vtec all day??
