Default Question about D2's

Does anyone know anything about these D2's. I have been hearing all these things about these new D2 racing suspension. I have herd that they are not at all compared to the Tein ss, but then i hear that there better then the Tein ss because of the 36 way damptner??

Can anyone clear this up for me cause i really dont know what way to go on the suspension im putting on my car?

I want it to be the best.

Im not saying that, but thats the way it looks like with the d2's. Honeslty from what i've read over the past 3 months about these "cheaper" coilovers kit..They are all basically the same. Omni, d2 ugr.. Flip a coin and pick.

But Omni isnt adjustible , how can you say its the same?

I have a friened that has the D2's and does a lot of SCCA events and hes pretty picky about his stuff and he is happy about the D'2's. He ran Tein ss before but says that he likes the D2 set up better.

I have another frined that had the D2's first then they just same out and now he has the Tein ss and he likes them better so i really dont know who to believe?

I hear that omni is really cheap compared to the D2's.

just look at the dyno's. " If you look at it (again it all depends upon what rate springs these shocks are trying to dampen) you'll see the curve goes up much faster and then starts to tail off compared to the very flat line of the D2's. That tells you that the Omnipowers have a better curve than the D2's. Though I can't tell exactly how these would compare w/o knowing the spring rates. Assuming the shocks were designed for the same spring rates the omni's would have a much better ride than the D2's and probably handle a bit better. Regarding the surface rust, if you don't live in a climate that increses the likelyhood of rust it's not much of an issue. But if you live in an area where it snows, they use road salt, or live on the coast you'll need to worry about that. For example I have one of the earlier generation Tein's that did not have the Teflon coating and I life in california (no salt, period) and they're still getting a little surface rust. A friend on the east coast (NY) w/ the same suspension has enough rust on his to rot them out completely to the point where he doesn't feel safe drving on them. So if you see any exposed metal there's a possibility of it rusting.

But to tell the truth unless you're on a real tight budget I'd save up another $200 and buy the ground control / koni combo. It's much better shock dampening rates and overall has a much better quality spring. But if I had to choose between Omni, D2 and say Tein Basic I'd pick the Omni's. " <---because of the money saved.

Dampening rate is low initially (as stated in that thread) thus their ride won't be all too good on the streets. Tein SS's are designed purely for the street and their shock valving isn't strong enough for lapping events. That being said IF I had to choose a cheap coilover it would be the Omni's because their curve is the best of the bunch. Also adjustability is moot with the D2's. Look how 35 of the 36 clicks show up, almost on the same line... If you care about adjustability D2's aren't for you.
