changed shifter and bushings and still loose?
Well I changed out my shifter and bushings, but the new short shifter still loose. I can move it from side to side even when is in gear, also is kind of hard to shift to second gear I always end up in fourth gear. I have to play around with it to get it in second gear, same thing with first and third. I searched and I found out that it could be the bitch pin in the shift linkage. Can you guys help me out, also where is this pin located and how hard is to get it out. Thanks alot guys for your help.
Find where the slop is
From the shift **** to lever, to the rods and finally to the tranny and ALL bushings related
Shouldn't be the B-Pin if you didn't touch it.

if its hard to shift you probably overtightened the bolt that goes form the linkage to the bottom of the shifter. the short shifter will naturally be slightly harder to shift anyway
Well it was like that when I bought the car a month ago, the shifter was very loose. So I went and bought a short shifter and bushings and changed them hoping to solve this problem but I guess not. It feels really good when I shift, with the new shifter the only thing is that when I go to second from first it goes to fourth and I have to play with it to get it in second gear. I can move it from side to side even in gear, also when I was under the car changing the bushings the shift linkage was loose I moved it back and forth like it came out the tranny and i pushed it back in so I dont know if is supposed to be like that or not?
i dont think its the bitch pin itself that will be the problem. the ujoint at the shift linkage is a common source of shifter slop. problem is that theres no bolt on replacement. either cut off and weld a better joint on, or machine the old bushings out and fabricate new ones, or just replace the whole linkage altogether.

I just replaced my linkage with a new one from honda, it got rid of all the slop but costed $50ish.
The problem on mine was where the linkage attached to the tranny, the linkage slipped on way to easily and that created just a tiny bit of play (left to right) in between the linkage and tranny. That little bit of play translates into two inches to the left or right on the shifter.
So, go under your car, and twist the linkage to the left or right, keep an eye on the selector on the tranny. If you can move the linkage without turning the selector, theres your slop.

my play comes from the brass joint on the selector bar close to the tranny. there is a brass rivet there and i plan on grinding off the rivet and running a long bolt through it to eliminate the slop. getting under your car is the best way to find whats wrong.
Yeah right before the bitch pin there are 2 joints. Your problem is there. They have bushings in them. They also have a rivit pin going through them. I have fixed this in the past with another d shift linkage that I molested, cut the rivet pin off and puched it out, thew the new bushing in and used a 12mm bolt instead of thepin. Worked really well. Now I have a new car and I need to find another linkage to molest.
