1991 Accord Problem Starting, please help.
A friend bought a 91 accord last week w/ 160K miles. It started right up on the first try for several days and then apparently it wouldn't start. I went to check it out yesterday (didn't have any tools with me.) I checked all the fluids and then had him turn it over. It started right up. Then I had him shut it off and try again. This time... nothing. I t cranked over strong but wouldn't start. I had him try it like 4 or 5 times, even tried hitting the throttle too. (though this shouldn't matter with EFI) Nothing. Since I had no tools with me and we were in the parking lot at his work I started checking vacuum lines, electrical connections, etc. I couldn't find anything that looked out of place. about 10 mins. had gone by since we tried to start it and I had him try again. This time it started right up! I don't get it. I had him shut it off and start it up again. We repeated this 5 or 6 more times with no trouble. I'm going back today w/ tools to pull the distributor and check that. I was thinking it could be the fuel filter too. I think the fuel filter is under the fuse box on the passenger side firewall. Is this correct? Is there another one on the tank? Would a dirty filter be causing this? Typically a dirty filter will cause the engine to run rough... but after this car starts it runs like a top! Any other suggestions of what I should check? Anyone have a similar problem w/ an easy fix?
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.
most likely it is your main relay but to make sure when it wont start yiou need to see if it is fuel or spark related,, if no fuel remove main relay and chk soldering for cracks ,, if no spark since it is intermittently most likely ignitor or coil
