Need AC!! Gettin hot as hell out there!!
Hey all
I got a '93 Integra GS that came stock with AC. When i push the little button the light comes on but i can't really hear anything happening with the engine. I can't see a difference from it being off or on either. I tried buying one of those recharge bottles (It has been retrofitted for the new ****) but it didn't do anyhting and the air still doesn't get cold. Is my compressor fucked?? How hard are they too change? appreciate all input
thanx

Is the belt attached to the compresor??
Does the fan work? Does the heater work? If you move it to hot does it blow hot air, and then when you move it to cold does it blow cool air(not hot anymore)?

did you update your system to r-134a? because if you didn't and a can of r-134a recharging stuff, i have been told it will cause a chemical reaction in your system that will eat away at it.
I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida last year and I have no A/C. Believe me, it's rough. I keep the windows down but it doesn't help. Sometimes I'll be wearing a light cotton t-shirt and in 5-10 mins my back is soaked and my forehead starts to drip, among other things. No fun. Unbearable humidity =
Yes the belt is attached. Yes the fan works, and the heat works and cold blows ambient air, just the AC dosen't work. Yes as the post sais it has been retrofitted for the new coolant. Yeah right when it got hot my power window switch decided to break too so i can't use my driver side window. Definitely a drag!!!

If your system hasn't been changed over to 134a then you should take it to a shop and have them drain your system completely and refill with 134a. The old stuff (can't remember the code) actually had small enough molecules that they leaked out of the hoses over the period of a couple years. Thats one hella small molecule.
my light comes on to but my ac dont work either. Since you recharged it and it doesnt blow out cold air, I think your compressor clutch isnt kicking on or the compressor itself is screwed (VERY expensive). To check if the clutch on compressor is kicking in, start engine (with hood open) and see if the compressor pulley is spinning the part inside it. Usually the rpm's will drop a tiny bit when the compressor clutch engages.
Mine though is definitly a wiring problem. The humidity in WI sucks and by the time i get to work, im already sweating. If I find out what the problem is, i will do a write up on how to identify the correct wiring porblem.

i was hardcore for 2 years in my 1990 Mustang 5.0....now i'm reaping the rewards of the beer keg climate...ahhh
anyway...hit up a garage, or if you have the testing equipment, check your system for leaks. all the refrigerant you put in, might have just leaked out. if it doesn't have any R-134 in the lines, the compressor won't click on, or it'll just click on and off but do nothing. that's what happened to the Mustang.

did you read what he said about the R-134a?? there is no way a wire could have rubbed against the belt either...no wires on that side of the compressor.
i remember having the switch on my integra go out in 96, after a local (houston) honda shop had to replace the compressor, coil and clutch. the system wasn't working correctly and they had to replace the switch...which somehow went faulty a week later...anyways, my dad and i were told it was a common problem in 2nd gen integras. i'm honestly not sure how to source the switch or replace it. check out a helms manual or search http://www.g2ic.com. that's as much as i can tell you...sorry it's not more. good luck.
edit: one way to check and see if it is the switch, is too hit the button and see if one or both of the radiator fans are running. preferably, try this when the engine is cold so that you know they aren't running to keep the engine cool. if the fans do turn on, then the problem is not your switch and most likely the clutch...which is as easy to access as the compressor and coil...parts are cheap, time isn't.

Calm down there, slickster. I was kidding when I said about 134a.
You're saying there's no connector coming off the compressor clutch? Does it magically engage?
Anyways, you've got this under control. Help with his prob, and don't worry about my .02

there is no wiring on the side of the belts...right side of compressor. i didn't mean that there was no connection, just not on that side.
i was just getting fed up with everyone saying to recharge the a/c...when he clearly stated multiple times that he had done that. people on HT, especially 04ers and 05ers have a problem with not reading posts above and then making statements that have already been covered, usually for the sake of increasing their post count so they can come to GDD and make dumbass threads.
that is all...

I think the DA has some issues with the A/C. I have a 90', and so far I have replaced the evaporator and condensor. The condensor was replaced last year and this year when I tried to use the A/C, it didn't work!!!! I spent over $850 for that darn condensor. I was told because of the age of the car, it's common for another part to go, like the compressor. Nevertheless, I took it to a small garage this time and all they did was fill it up with refrigerent. There's definitely a leak somewhere, but they never bothered testing it. They said they're trying to save me money. But basically, I'm stuck with having to fill it with refrigerent every year, which is illegal.
Anyways, when you press on the A/C button, if your RPM does not go up abit or if you don't hear the A/C come on, then I'm thinking one of your A/C components is gone. I would suggest you take your car to an Acura dealership and have them diagnose the problem. It may be expensive, but you gotta have A/C. Up in Toronto, we have smog and humidex advisories and heat alerts. Temps. as high as 41'C with the humidex. That is definitely not good for your health. So, get that A/C fixed if the area you live in is as bad as this. Good luck.

WTF is GDD?
I don't care about a post count. '05 or whatever. How can it be narrowed down to that? How can you say people that joined in 04 and 05 don't read posts?! That's crazy.
I'm sure there are more than just me that joined to spread and absorb knowledge.
Again, what is GDD?

general discussion and debate. scroll down a little on the main honda-tech forum. i was making a generalization about many newer members on HT. it's a common thing, there are alot of members on here, not saying you're a troll like many others. sorry man, i didn't mean to **** you off...i hadn't had my coffee at that point.
hahaha, nah man I'm not pissed at all. I guess you can't be a trial user for the GDD? Sorry to go off topic, but no I'm not pissed. I don't think anyone here could do that. Only time I actually got pissed on a forum was when a buddy, a person I grew up with, started talking trash behind my back, forgetting that I knew he frequented that forum, and I just happened to take a look. It was f'ed up. I fixed that though. heheh.
Coffee works wonders!

Same shat happened to me...
My AC was working fine for past 3 months.
It just dies last Sunday.
the system is fully charged. (when I stick a pen in the R134 filler port it sprays out ice cold refridgerant on me.
When I turn it on I can hear the Compressor kick in and then the RPMS dip a little, but still no Cooled Air..... it feels like its just blowing outside temp air.
Could I have a clog in my heater core?
