91 Kawi 600
What's going on guys. I've been lurking around in this forum for a while and wanted to chime in for some advice. I just passed my MSF, and was looking at a potential starter bike. It's a 91 Kawi 600 with 13,000 miles. It's been dropped, and has some damage to it (broken chin). The fairings were replaced with stock ones. As far as I know, the title is clean. I went to look at it today and it started up and ran like a champ, but ran pretty hot. The owner attributed this to the bike sitting for a while, and that once it's been around the block a few times, it should cool down.
He's willing to part with the bike for $1500.
I know some of you will advise me that a 600 might be too powerful, but I will respect the bike fully. I will aquaint myself with it; in an empty area on a sunday morning until I feel fully comfortable taking it out on the street.

Although I think it's priced fairly well already, I'll see if I can lowball him H-T style.
I don't mind the power part, seeing as though it will be a commuter/weekend cruising bike.
Apocalypse, reborn, marmalade.. What do you guys think?

I'm not too familiar with the 91 600. Is it air cooled or liquid cooled?
Sounds like the bike hasn't been ridden much, less than 1000 miles/year. Has it been maintained? How are the tires? Brakes look good?
If it was me, I wouldn't pay more than $1200.
And don't forget to budget some money for gear.
Good luck.
