- how do I lower a 87 civic hatch -
an 87 civic doesn't have springs in the front. you have to adjust the torsion bars. get a haynes manual and you will see what i am talking about. if you really want to drop the car, you will need to lower the bolt (look at the pic and you will see what i mean) as far as it will go and then you will have to take apart that torsion bar and rotate it one way or the other. i don't remember which way i went with my 86 crx, but it is low enough to the ground that we can't fit the really small jack under the front without lifting it up by hand first. after you rotate the torsion bar, put it back together and connect everything back up.
as for the rear, you will need to get lowering springs, or else get some stiffer springs and cut them down. they do make a set of coil-overs for that car which will work as well. good luck.

I have an '87 hatch and I lowered it with the torsions and mines not even low and it rides kinda rough so if your plannin on going really low I recommend getting some bigger torsions from OPM Motorsports, they have them in 23 and 27mm. Theyll improve the ride quite a bit. In the rear i have Ground Control coilovers and no complaints there at all. Their a good ride and very easy to adjust.Good luck.
