HELP:d16y7 vs. d16y8 oil pans????

Default HELP:d16y7 vs. d16y8 oil pans????

are there any differences??? i just cracked my y8 oil pan and i found a y7 one. both are d16's. help anyone???

they are not IDENTICAL. Yes it will work. Only functionality difference is the oil pan drain plug bolt. The y7's is torqued to 33lb-ft and the y8's one is torqued to 29lb-ft. The y7 takes a slighly "wider" (not necessarily thicker) oil pan gasket. Information verified via my Helm's manual.

I'm currently using a y8 pan on my y7-t and it works fine......

thanks for the helps guys.....i guess im gonna get that oil pan then. should i use the y7 gasket or use the y8?
