Default bike size for me

hey guys whats up, long time lurker first time poster (in this forum)
well anyways i have been looking into getting a bike for some time. and now is a good time (financially) to get one, because my insurance wont be too high (im 24) and i have some extra cash. i am looking into a 600 maybe, maybe a 750 but the thing is i am worried about is the right size bike for me

i have been reading magazines on new (even though im looking used) bikes and they say for that size bike 600-750 a rider should be about 140-155lbs. i didnt really think of my weight as an issue but is it. im 5'10" and about 195lbs. but its solid build though, i work out 5 days a week and eat right, so its not fat if thats what ur thinking. would i be ok because i dont really want to get a larger bike

Kellen Winslow is 6'4 250, and look what he did. Size has nothing to do with it.

my advice would be to visit a local bike shop and sit on as many different bikes as you can. that way, you get to see first-hand which bikes fit you and which ones you like.

if this is your first time riding, im sure many people here will tell you that you should start on a 250. that seems to be the ideal size to learn the feel for a bike.

im 6'3" 3+ and roll around on my friends 600rr all the time. a 600 is perfect man seriously. dont go any higher if your a new rider. Save a life and play it safe.

i know about the power of bikes and please dont judge, i have been on a few bikes and now its time for my own. and whan i say i have been on bikes i mean standing and walking.

my question was maily for the handling aspect, sorry if sounded it kind of dumb, the articles i ws reading was referring to the riders weight versus the bikes suspension

but i will most definatly be getting a 600. either a gsx-r or yamaha

I still think you should get some beater 250...no matter how "Good" you think you are..there is a learning curve all of have been through...plus..why spend really good money on a new bike when you have the risk of thrashing it.

I started 250 and I dropped it many a time...then I got my 600 and I am happy I went 250....cause I would have killed myself if I wrecked my 600...also..throwing that 250 around in the corners and dragging knee was REALLY fun on a bike with low power and only weighs like 200lbs..give it a try...the VTR 250 is really a fun old bike to trash
