My car hates me (hood vs. windshield)
Well, its 3:14 am here, i was just driving home from a friends and thinking how nice it will be to order the dohc ZC tomorow from Hmotors (to replace the smoking d16a6 i put in last weekend)
and put it in the car, then put the nice turbokit i have sitting here on the the new ZC ..... hit the onramp for my short 2 mile highway jaunt home got up to the top and outa nowhere BAM!!!
My brand new metal oe hood flies up and shatters my windshiled!!!!!
The hood won
Luckily nobody was around, as it was 3am. I hopped out, bent the SH@# out of the hood to get the saftey latch to catch, the round spring thing was bent all to hell. and then proceded home on the highway at 40mph looking thru my completely shattered windshield...
it hit so hard it knocked my rearview mirror off, and dome light down.
its too dark and my car is flatblack so i cant really catch a good look to see if the roof is fu#$%@ .... but with my luck, it will be. Guess ill find out tomorow.
Three days ago, the brakes went out, and the pedal went to the floor when i was coming to a stop behind a truck!!! Fixed that, now this!
I Love EF's - this is my third... but im begining to think they dont like me
OHwell, i know it is my fault, but I had to tell someone, and i dont have anyone that appreicates the car like you all do.
Im going to bed, ill let you guys know how much the windshield is (hood was $130)

how much did you windsheild cost you installed? I was on my way to sell one of my CRX 2 weeks ago and the same thing happened to me. Thank god it did not toush the roof but the windshield is competely gone. I just left my CRX parked at my dealership without a hood and a broke windshield. My manager is starting to get pissy about it. I need to get it fixed. Let me know ASAP thanks and good luck

He shouldn't need hood pins.
Insurance will cover the damages. The only problem is that the cost to replace the windshield will be cheaper than most of our insurance deductibles on our cheap *** cars.

Well, i checked it out, and there wasnt any damage to the roof (thankgod) The hood will have to be seriously worked to get back to usable condition. It was a OE replacment hood, so i didnt use hood pins plus i dont like them. I found out that the radiator/hoodlatch support was bent and wasnot latching, but the saftey latch was. Must have wiggled loose on the onramp and she took flight.
I called about 6 different places about replacing the windshield, prices ranged from $320 to $230 . I personally know the guy that quoted me 230, and he's allright and i trust his work and it comes with a lifetime garuntee, so ill be getting that replaced tomorow.
The car is "in progress" I will eventually paint it, but my priority is more with go than show right now. i flatblacked it becuase the paint sucked, and it was red and faded
and i bought a new hood and fender a month ago, and i dont like multicolored cars.
Here are some pics, i think it scared me more than anything.
Now i have to wait a month or 2 before i order the motor

sadly i was racing my ******* neighbor in his cavalier on the interstate and something similar happened. we hit about 80 mph and his carbonfiber scoop hood flew off, and a semi ran it over. i dont think i ever laughed so hard, but sorry about your hood man.
This almost happened to me yesterday. I was driving into work and I noticed the hood rattling at 80mph. Quickly pulled off the highway and latched that **** back down!
I'm in need of a new windshield as well as I've got a growing crack in mine on the driver's side that won't pass inspection since it is in my line of sight. I've received quotes from $200-$260. I also got a quote of $75 for installation only as I thought I had a hookup on an 88 HF.

You dont have to, ive swapped 3 cars with dohc zc's and owned 2 of them.
the first two it hit the hood on the hood brace, so i cut the brace out, and it was fine, the last 1 i just shimmed the motormount down on that side, and shimmed the back of the hood up with some washers and it worked ok.
the zc hood does look alot nicer though, too bad you have to buy the JDM front end to make it work (if you sticking with OEM/JDM parts)
Ive considered a carbon fiber ZC hood, but i cant justify the cost, and it would look retarded with a flat black car.

you dont have to have the jdm front end for a zc hood to work...fits fine on usdm front end(unless its dif on the hatchback...idk)
