93 civic trans issues.....
allright just a basic 93 ex civic coupe... I have searched and didn't really get the answer too my ?. I know my tranny probaly has bad syncros, but when u go into gear, i hear this whining noise, like a screach... Not like horribly loud, but it's there.. Is this possibly the throwout bearing, also when i try to downshift to second gear. Going 40 mph, it just will not go, i have to rev the motor up and then it will slip in.. syncros???, i have no clue.. all these mishaps didn't really start to occur unitl after the clutch master cylinder was replaced... coincedence.... i dunno. thanks for your time and ur follow up too my ?...
When you say it screeches when you go into gear do you mean when you take off from a stop, or when you actually put the shifter into first gear?
For the downshifting part, that kind of sounds like synchros, but why are you downshifting into second at 40? There was a thread on here where a guy fucked up his tranny case and diff because he was downshifting like it was his job.

this is going from a stop to go, also i was using that speed as an example, i can't even do it going 30 mph, i'm not talkin about throwin it in thier trying to act like an idiot in a stock civvy. it just feels like the clutch is trying to grab, like its jerking back and forth i dunno its wierd as hell...

If it's screeching from a stop I would say maybe the clutch and flywheel have glazed and is causing that. How old is the clutch? Does it slip at all?
I had that same issue with screeching noise from a start, pulled it apart, cleaned off the flywheel with some fine sandpaper, cleaned the clutch disc and flywheel with brake parts cleaner, and no more sound now.
For the downshifting, I would say synchros.

yeah i was kinda thinkin clutch, the car has 170000 miles, clutch changed unknown, i'm gonna guess it was cause it doesn't slip.but i'm going to do a good ol tear on it. and just redo everything. and just baby the syncros.. thanks for the help.
