Heya, i know the si weighs about 230 lbs more then a cx, but my question is why. I am looking to buy either with a swap, and either way everything is getting stripped. Is it possible to get a Si which i believe weighs 2320, to 2100? All my car is going to have is a dash and 2 seats. no power steering, no ac, no interior nothing. Only thing i knnow of is that it has a sunroof and rear disc brakes yes? but what sunroof is 50 pounds? disc brakes another 50? obviosuly don't add up to 230 lbs. anyway, anyone have any other ideas? i don't wanna put money into weigh reduction just as plexiglass windows and such so let me know guys
things the si has that weigh it down:
sunroof
more sound deadening material
disk brakes
sometimes AC
Power steering
power doorlocks
power windows
it has a longer wheelbase too so i guess that would make it a bit heavier...
clock, door panels with pockets, tachometer, foot rest:p

He is in Canada where the Si is our EX aka a coupe/4dr, and yes, they have a longer wheelbase by about 2".

In Canada, the Si civics are a crappy 121? hp, here in America, our Si's are 160hp
i know this because i lived in canada
the ex is just the fully loaded civic coupe or sedan (power, ac, etc)...basically top of the line most of the years there were no Si's produced
canadian Si-R's are equivalent to america Si's....
i didnt like a lot of things in Canada and that was one of them...
all you northern states should take your Si's to Canada, and race a stock Canadian Si after you both show your stock engines to each other, make a bet, and the Canadian thinking he will have a chance will fall for it, but his puny 121 hp can never compare to 160hp therefore you will win his CND dollar...which u will have to convert to USD ...(it will be less) but hey you still win $$ for doing nothing haha

The si's they are talking about at 92-95 civics, which in the US and Canada and 125hp with a d16z6...You're talking about a 99-00 si with a B16..

sunroof is 33.4 lbs
sound deadening is 18lbs for the whole car, so i will guesstamate that the cx is half that at the most, so minus 9 lbs
rear disk is 2 lbs more then drum, each side
never weighed a complete a/c system myself, so i can only speculate. my si did not come with a/c
power steering rack is 5 lbs more then a non power rack. i never weighed the pump/lines/cooler, but if i were to speculate it would be 15~20 at the very most.
no power doorlocks stock
no power windows stock
the eg hatch wheelbase (all models) is 101", wheras the eg coupe (all models) is 103".

only reason i asked was because i was looking at a Si hatch with a motor swap. Most people have CX's, but this guy's car was an Si. Thanks Rodney for breaking it down though! Yea, A/C is kinda heavy, on my ex EK it was about 50 pounds, pretty damn heavy for the A/C. The compressor weighs a hell of a lot!
it's funny that you guys would strip a car down to it's sheet metal just to save 100-150lbs. do you track it competitively?
i don't question your priorities or what you do with the car. for me, the extra stuff in the Si was what drew me to it!

It was optional in the hatchbacks. My boy is picking up a stock 1993 Si Hatchback with power everything. Not too many people took the option (I don't know why) but it's still there
