You can use any fresh oil you want as long as you change it on a regular interval, I suggest 3k to 7.5k like anyone else said. 3k for dino, 7.5k for syn.

5w30 more than likely. And I don't know of any turbos that don't require synthetic. So you're probably best using that.

5w30 in the winter, 10w30 in the summer

If you've got any oill consumption problems, 10w30 is a safer bet.

For a turbo'd car, I'd change the oil no less than every 2,000 miles.

eh not necessarily, i hear you should change the synthetic oil every 4000-5000 miles, and change the filter 2-2.5k miles. I hear changing the synthetic oil too early is actually early.

Some folks have sent in their used oil to be tested and have found some interesting results. I forget the exact numbers, but the oil they were using was still definitely good-to-go at 3000 miles. The tester recommended retesting after another 2000 or so.

Um NO.

e46 BMWs run single 10,000+ miles oil change with synthetic oil. I'm pretty sure that can be said for most other cars using synthetic oil.

Exactly, dont believe the hype when it comes to OCIs. The only proper way to determine the OCI on an oil is to have a UOA done. I had a UOA done on my Chevron 10W-30 dino oil at 6K miles. The report showed that the oil was still good and that I could have gone even longer on the oil.

As other have posted, check out the forums at BITOG. You can look at real world statisitics and tests on oils in the UOA section. There is also good info in the Oil section.

not bashing hence the face at the end of my comment. just seems like a lot of teg's burn oil before the 5k mark, its more of a mental thing for me...my brother didnt change his oil for about 7500 once and it burned all his oil dry and being the lazy *** he is he ended up throwing a rod...and yes i know syn is supposed to go up to around 8-9k...but its oil and it only costs me about 20-25 with a filter to change my oil so id rather spend the money then worry about any problems

EXACTLY

My last autotech instructor always said "oil is cheaper than motors", i'll stick with that philosophy as well.
