Pic Request: '90-'91 CRX/Civic Back of Working Guage Cluster, and Cluster question
I took my guage cluster off my civic today and noticed something odd. When I took it off and looked at the back of the cluster, I noticed that 2 screws and possibly something else those screws were holding were missing. The exact location is behind the speedometer, right below where the speedo cable connects to the speedometer head. I noticed this because I saw the imprints from the washers in the printed circuit. One of the circuits is a ground. I am wondering what the other circuit is for. It does go to the harness directly above the speedo head. Looking at the back of the cluster, it is the harness with 8 connectors, all the way to the top left. The ground is the first one on the left in the harness and the circuit in question is second from the left (right next to the ground). This is from a '90 to '91 Civic Si cluster.

are u getting a code 17? u should. those are the speed sensor screws. w/o those 2 no siggnal is getting to the ecu and it will throw a code. and no it was just screws there nothing more. The other is a direct input wire to the ecu. if u rotate the spedo cable that should grounded 4 times evrey 1 rotation.

Yes, I am getting a code 17 and I could not figure that **** out. So you are telling me, if I just put those screws into that location, the code 17, should go away and nothing else should be there?

There aren't just screws there, there is a wire that goes to one of them. I'm not 100% sure where it comes from though. I can check mine tomorrow for you.

Here is the back of my 91 Civic Si cluster. Ignore the arrow, it is just highlighting where I burnt a connector.

Hmm, if you look at the picture I have in my original post, you will notice that the thing with the blue clip in it does NOT have the wires coming out of it where I need to screw them in. I think this is where the CRX cluster and the Civic cluster varied.
The thing with the blue clip (an amplifier I believe), is completely different on the civic than on the crx. I ordered that part from honda and recieved a completely different amplifyer (Civic amplifyer) than the one that is on the cluster (CRX cluster/amplifier, i think).

Here's the pic I promised. That wire isn't an aftermarket thing because both of my clusters have it as well. The screw isn't int, but it's supposed to be at the hole it's over.

thats for a CC. i wana see a pic of the cover removed for one that has that wire off the VSS.
Yes, thats for CC. At the honda dealership I go to, in their computer registry that lists as an amplifier for the VSS. (Coral Springs Auto Mall). What cover removed, from the cluster? Or the cover off the CC thingy?

My car is still very stock. But she's a keeper. Plans are Koni Adj. w/ H&R sports or Eibachs and some 16" Rotas.
