2bar is fine with stock LS. Anything over might give you some compression problems though. Make sure the rack and pinion in the transmission is good though otherwise you'll blow the gaskets. If you do blow the engine, you can always overnight parts from Japan.
Seriously, research before going and buying **** for your car. "OMG I JUST BOUGHT THIS COOL PIECE OF METAL FOR 500 BUCKS...WHAT DOES IT DO?"

I'll be nice.
The general consensus is anywhere from 8-10psi. However, it's all dependent on how you tune your setup. You could run only 1psi and blow your motor if you don't know what you're doing. If you want to run low boost, then just tune it well and you don't need to replace anything. That's why kits are available....it's just a bolt on kit made to run on stock settings.
If you want to increase the boost and make more power, search the forced induction forum. There are an endless number of things you can do from forged pistons to sleeving to heavy duty axles.
EDIT: You have a 92LS. The motor is quite old. You might want to do a compression test to see how your motor is doing before you throw something like a turbo on it. If the compression is low/cylinders are not within 10% variance, then a turbo on the system will make things go downhill pretty damn quick.

i boosted around with only 7.25lbs and spun a rod right through my block after about a month. i drove it hard and lesson learned cost me money, now its my baby and i take good care of it
since you are b18b you can get these engines for cheap from a junkyard.
I've been through a couple of them. You can get them with about 80k kms on it
for around $400 to $600 if u have friends that either work there or know someone there. Before you go and spend all that cash doing a build up i'd say just hook up the turbo and run 7 or 8 lbs and see how long it lasts. You might be surprised and if not then it only takes a weekend to swap out a b18b.
