Optima Battery
Looking to get a Optima Battery. Does anyone have it, and how does it perform? And what color top should I get for my Hatchie. some say red top, and some say yellow? which one for the hatch. Thanks in advance
I have a red top that I use in the winter for cold startup. Its actually too large for the tray and I have to strap it down w/ bungees.
Good battery, too much money for what I use it for though...
Unless youre doing it for that, or you have a lot of accessories, you probably dont need one

my buddy has a redtop in the back of his truck to power this....

i bought a yellow top for my civic, cause it fits in the tray... but the tards at pep boys had it sitting on the ground or something cause it wouldn't come to life for anything.

..I have a yellow top in my 97 EX coupe. Very expensive though from SEARS. My neighbors SEARS Diehard battery in her 91 Hatch finally died after...get this.... 9 YEARS ! amazing

i wanted a good quality battery, and this guy at autozone said these were the best....becuase i got some noname battery, and it didn't last me very long. any suggestions on different ones?
IMHO optimas are the best. I have one in my jeep and it takes a beating, all sorts of crap running to it. In my car though I just a have regular honda battery.
I have one in my car. The first one died for some odd reason. It just stop charging one day and died on me within 15months I had it. I lost the reciecpt so I just bought another one and gonna return the old one in a few months because they give you another battery for free within a year. Anyways, it is an excellent battery if you have a system like me. I guess I just had a bad battery. Also, it is a dry cell battery unlike most wet cell. I dunno what the difference is really but I think dry cells last the life of your car and I know they wont spill or leak if anything happens to them. You can also mount the battery in almost any position because of the dry cells.
let me help clarify... i got the optima yellow top model # D51R (R for Reversed Terminals) check the pic. Its a direct fit for honda civic and holds down with the factory bracket. I paid $150 for it. After I put my system in my Oem battery would last for about 20 minutes at low volume with the car off. I put the optima in and have ran it with the car off for over 2 hours and the car started like it was nothing.

I have a yellow top in my civic. I do have a system but I have a separate battery in the back. I got it because someone was selling a brand new one for 70 bucks. Can't beat that. I have heard that they kill alternators though. Not sure how true or untrue...

about the big *** huge ****'in box in the back of the blazer i showed earlier. that was during the install... it has since been layed down and if i'm not mistaken, rebuilt to actually "mold" into the rear compartment.
that system is pushing 2800 watts to the 4 12" L7's alone, that doesn't count his interiors. i can't stand that much noise.

actually its a gel battery. i have the yellow top and a 150amp alt in my car. mainly for my system. but it has also been nice to be able to leave my lights on forever and run a power inverter when i go camping.

Actually, if you have a system, you would want to get the yellow top. They are a deep cycle battery. Red top's are "starter batteries" that aren't geared toward running added accessories.

Hey folks... Sorry to bring this back from the dead... But I guess the general consensus is to get a yellow top for my EX coupe if the car is to have a decent system in it. Someone also mentioned a higher output (150 amp?) alternator... any idea where these can be purchased?
