Default need opinions on which swap to do

alright heres the situation... i have a '91 hatch std with the gay d15b1 motor in it... i need more power and i was planning on doing and ls swap here real soon(theres a couple ls block/heads at a junkyard here for around $300-$400) ... i just graduated high school and i got about $800 for graduation money and wanted to use most if not all of it on the swap but i dont think i can get all the parts i need for the ls with $800 so heres my question finally:

i want a car that is pretty quick but what im looking for most out of the car is handling so that rules out anything like the H22... the car will see occasional drag racing but more auto x and road racing in the future hopefully... i saw on hmotorsonline that they had a sohc d15b Vtec motor for $435 i believe and i could get the tranny and ecu for anohter $250 which brings the total to $685... and i noticed that this motor made 130 hp vs. the ls's 145 hp... i know the ls has more torque but the d15 is lighter so would that help out at all? would the ls affect my handling a lot? and wouldnt the d15 be a direct swap? what else would i need other than engine, tranny, and ecu?

thanks a lot for your help guys... sorry about all the questions but this is my first car and also my first swap that ive ever done and i want to make sure that i choose the right motor... i was only into dsm's until about 5-6 months ago when i found this car and im not as knowledgable about honda's as most of you... once again thanks for the help

its summer! get a job and save, save, save... then get a b-series... ive had my d15b for about six months and im already tired of it... its got no ***** when its not in vtec, and even then it doesn't blow you away... for the money though, it is a good swap, and anything is faster then what you have right now...

With that said... the ls would have little to no effect on your handling... the d15b is a direct swap...and all you need is engine, tranny, ecu plus changing over to MPFI and adding vtec wiring...

also if you want great handling, why are you getting an engine? Ummmm.... I thinjk thats it, oh well, good luck

my handling is almost taken care of... i have coilovers, shocks, camber plates, and strut tower bars... the only things i need are some azenis sports(coming soon) and a rear sway bar and ill be happy... plus im tired of this engine... i just want something that will go when i ask it to... will i see any low end power with a d15b at all? is there anything i can do to help that... i just wanted an easy swap that will give me a decent amount of power at the least... what would the total cost of an ls swap be for my platform? thanks a lot for the help

Save for B-serious engine.
LS runs from 300-2k.
Depend on the seller.
I got mine out of the junk yard for 300... That's the whole car 96 teg.

you got an entire '96 integra for $300?! i looked on car-part.com for a '91 integra ls engine and the cheapest one listed here was $350 and i think that was only the block and head ... would buying a salvage car be cheaper?

even doing the d15b will be a huge improvement from what you have now. i have a d16z6 and it's a blast to drive. there's plenty of potential in my opinion. it's probably the best bang for the buck (at least when the bucks aren't plenty)

p.s. nice sig

yeah thats what im thinking... it would feel like a monster of an engine compared to this engine... and later on i plan on turboing it so itll keep me happy for a while... not only would it be a blast to drive but since i dont have any swap experience this is a pretty easy one and i think it would be a good choice for my first swap
p.s.- i was reading through a post and i read that and thought it was a great idea... its the only way i could ever be competitive... lol
