"new" 88 Accord - MPG Questions
I just picked up an 88 accord as pretty much a beater. Its got 200K on the odo, and its running well after We got the mouse nest out of the intake tract
In any event, I am looking to squeeze as much gas mileage out of this car as possible, but I really dont know much about this model. I have already replaced the plugs and wires, but I do not know which cap&rotor the car needs. I was told there were 2 different kinds. I have the 12V FI 2.0L engine, so If anyone knows which I need I would really appreciate it.
I was thinking of putting and intake on the car to lean out the mixture a bit, but I dont know how good the ECU is. Im pretty sure a car of this age isnt going to have a very advanced ECU, but I dont want to sack My mileage by just slapping parts on the car. I was also thinking of gutting the cat to free up the exaust system a little bit as well. Again, not knowing much about the ECU, im not sure how good of an idea this is. The only modification I am going to do for sure is to pull the power steering pump and the AC. I really dont use the AC that much anyway, and I have driven a car with out power steering before, so I figure I can get rid of a little parisitic loss there. Perhaps an lightened/underdriven crank pulley?
Im pretty much rabling at this point, so Ill shut up and wait for some responses

ok, as long as you know the year and motor you have, you are good to go, here is a website where they list every part for your car and have diagrams to accompany your selection so you are sure that its the part you need.
