Default Mugello, what a great race

Anyone else catch the MotoGP race today? Man, there was a lot of passing and the whole race was pretty thrilling. Mugello seems to be a fun track. Someone would pass on the inside but going in too hot and get passed coming out of the corner.

Another race to show that Rossi is truly the "king" or motorcycle racing. Good show by Biaggi and Capirossi, who really showed that he wanted to podium.

Next week's race should be good with Gibernau on his home track, supposedly.

i watched it today .. and to me, they seemed much more aggressive then that of the AMA, and i liked it better.

I also watched the AMA at Road America ... WOW. Some nasty crashes, most of which were pretty big names in the sport. I did enjoy the little bio on Jake Holden, a guy i know .. but he's not doing very well this season, and crashed the 2nd day at Road America.

none the less, i had a good time watching 4 hours of racing .. OTHER THEN THE DAMN HERPES COMMERCIAL!!

(this should have been one post, but bite me)

i have never really watched Rossi, but he is insanely fast. It really amazed me, just like Mladin has been doing .. Mladin can fall behind, but give him half a lap, and he'll be 6 seconds in front of 2nd place. Have Mladin and Rossi raced together?

But yea, i couldn't believe how fast Rossi was

EDIT: haha i wont make 3 posts .. but, what Yamaha is Rossi riding?

Rossi and Mladin haven't raced. Mladin pretty much is set in his ways about sticking with AMA. No biggie, why leave?

Rossi has always done GP I think. Could be wrong though. He is actually a pretty cool guy. At least that is what I gathered from Faster, the GP documentary.

Rossi rides the Gauloises Yamaha M1 #46.

Mladin test ran a MotoGP bike back in the 90's, but nothing came of it. Mladin might be too old to make the switch now...

Rossi has raced 125GP, 250GP, 500GP, and MotoGP, and has won at least one title in each.

It's great that that chick doesn't get herpes outbreaks anymore, but has she told that guy she's with that she has a dirty diseased bitch?

I was a great race. Rossi and his M1 always put on a good slow. I think Rossi let Max, Marco, and Loris catch him to make the race exciting for the Italian home fans. I can't wait to see what he can do on American soil at Laguna Seca in a month.

No, Rossi was just trying to not show his hand until he absolutely needed to, which was at the end of the race. This where Rossi has an advantage on the competition. He doesn't go out and ride on the ragged edge the whole race. Doing that would make it more likely for him to crash. Instead he holds a little in reserve until the end of the race when he needs to make his move. Often times he is studying the lead rider(s) to find out their weaknesses.

Rossi is just an expert on racecraft. Every now and then he makes a mistake but not very often.

I must say the best move of the race is when Melandri came sailing in on turn 1 and pass both Biaggi and Rossi

Yeah, he crashed in Qatar last year and I think that was it.

At the post-race interview, Rossi talked about how he wanted to go faster but his front end wasn't feeling it. So kept his rythm til the end.

again I am shown racing is about managing so many different things... amazing

I remember another, former racer turned mag guy, commenting about his throttle control.. how he's so precise that it amazed even him.

AMA uses highly modified production bikes, currently Mladin is tearing up AMA Superbike on the GSXR-1000. MotoGP bikes are prototypes which don't share platform or parts with production bikes.

The M1 is specific to MotoGP, so unless you follow, there's really no reason to have heard of it. Check out the link for more information on the M1:

The bikes in MotoGP are all prototype. They cannot use parts that are from production motorcycles.

For instance, Honda has the RC211V which is a 990cc V5. The M1 is a 990cc inline 4. Ducati and Suzuki both use V4 motors.

MotoGP bikes are the fastest motorcycles in the world.

Also, even if you offer to buy a GP bike, they won't sell it to you.

yeah dude, I heard it's like a million bucks to lease a one bike for a year!

That's for Honda and those prices were when Mick Doohan was racing.

Not only that, Honda will not let the lessee take the engine apart--Honda will do it and service it. Pretty top secret...

If you really want a vintage 500cc formula 1 bike, you can get one... NOT a moto gp bike though, until maybe when they drop the displacement :-P
