Default B-Series Swap, relocate battery?

Hey everyone,

I'd love to see some pics of where you guys with B-series swaps have your batteries, I have an LS EF hatch and when I got it, the battery was just wedged between the intake and something else, does not look very safe or secure. Any advice? Would love to see pics

well I'll do that if its my only alternative Would rather not do that quite yet, but I will down the road, when I don't have so much junk in my hatch and won't be hauling crap around

Yep mines in the hatch area. HIGHLY recommend it, frees up lots of space, looks cleaner, and you can run whatever intake you want. I'm thinking about getting the PW:JDM C/F intake soon!

Relocation of the battery to the back does make the engine compartment look a world cleaner.

If you dont want to relocate your battery to the trunk you could buy a Hawker Odyssey PC680 battery and lay it on it's side on the stock battery tray. Do a search for e-bay user odyssey world or odyssey_world. That's where I bought my PC680 battery with auto terminals from.

I remember when I relocated a lighter battery to the trunk it made the weight distribution a lot better.

I say do it.

I used the PC680 as well, moved it into the rr corner of the hatch in a custom box, fits perfect and the bay looks alot better.

I was checking out my buddies Password CF Intake, It looks GREAT. Awesome intake, and the craftmanship of the intake is great.

Thanks for all the replies, I guess maybe I will put it in the back

i would have thought more people would have done what i did. yet, ive never seen anyone else do it.

on the crx you know that little space under the center of the dash? just a little open spot. PERFECT for a braille auto drycell. and the wires stay nice and short. my chassis ground is still under the hood. no need to relocate that. that way theres only one wire to each terminal. looks very clean. you cant see the batter ANYWHERE. whether it be under the hood, in the back hatch, behind the seat...

anyone else do this?

awesome. I want an easy way to get the battery away from the metal intake, and make some room.. anywhere I can get it out of the way would be great

if you want to do a quickie which i dont highly recommend, but get 2 pieces of 4 guage wire 8 feet each and put it behind the passenger seat and slide the seat all the way back until it holds it in. leave it grounded under the hood.

Haha, I'll be removing my passenger seat until someone (officer) says that I have to have one. I'll just move it to the back, is there a step by step direction for this? Also, when I moved it back, do I ground the battery in the rear or run it from the front?

look at how its grounded stock. the ground wire and the negative wire are one in the same. thres just a part of the wire thats bare and its bolted to the fender. so...this means...you can connect a wire to the negative transmission ground and run it 6 inches over to the left and ground it on the fender or the little bolt hole on the motor mount. take your pick.

yeah
I would get the hawker mounted in the front with the box secured to the frame rail.
It sits far below the stock location. Saw 2 of them at the CRX Meet in SD this past weekend. Looks so clean. Mounts better up front than in the rear. I have 2 dry cell hawkers in my spare tire well. works great but i really liked how those batterys were mounted up front. Nice lil boxes. I never got that with mine.
If you're running a stereo system, get 2
You'll be pulling 1/2 the full load of amps which is comparable to what they must handle on a motorcycle. 110 cranking amps being pulled from each rather than 220 from one. They're only rated to 240, so when they degrade, they start to lose their ability to start the car. Mine started going out after 6 months, giving it a lil friend will quadruple the life of both.

Yeah, I dont think a nice stereo is going to be an issue for the time being, my hatch rattles enough without music making it worse, haha.

well i got an engine grounding kit under my hood...will i not be able to use this if i relocate the battery to the trunk??? it already has 4 gauge wire...but wont lengthening the wire just brink the resistance back up..defeating the whole purpose of the engine ground kit anyways...hmmmm i wonder

no..just hook all that **** to the end of where the negative terminal hooks to which is the transmission. its all the same. and if youre worried abotu the resistance...dont. its so negligable.

I think it'd still be fine, but possibly if we see pics of this dash setup, that might be a little easier than moving to the back. I think I'm going to just turn my battery sideways underneath the intake, until I go ahead and route it to the back. Any pics of this hawker setup the guy was talking about?

Yeah, I'd really like to see it. I'd rather not get in my car and try and picture it, its raining and its probably full of water, haha
