Default car geometry and lowering car?

I was talking to a friend about getting full coilovers and dropping my car about 2inches, and he told me that sometimes it doesn't improve handling because it messes up the original suspension geometry. Has anyone heard that before? Any thoughts?

thanks

That statement is pretty blind. There are so many factors contributing to how a suspension functions, and add to that different designs that respond differently to changes. One can't say, lowering the car will ruin geometry.

Your car will handle fine at a -2" ride height. I would worry more about the quality of the lowering springs than the suspension geometry. The only thing that will "change" your suspension geometry is adding adjustable camber kits. I personally feel that they add bump steer, as well as interference problems with your front fenders. I personally left all my suspension arms stock & the car handles wonderfully (94 CX hatch lowered 3"). Just make sure you get an alignment to fix the toe settings once it's lowered. The shop will tell you your camber is way off, but thats a good thing (if you like to corner hard)...
