Default sr20 powered crx

Guys, I just picked up a 90 crx. It is not in the best shape, but it allready has a 96 Integra front clip, looking good. I have a few options. I got an H22 swap, ZC swap, a Dseries swap, and a couple sr20 swaps. H has to much *****, ZC swap is to unreliable, Dseries are common but weak. Why not try an sr20. A friend from Honda builds harness cheap, another works at an aircraft part fabrication plant. I have 3 sr20 swaps. I think I could make something happen. Any input folks would be great.

I will post pics of the ride. I traded one of my H22 swaps for it.

My B16 CRX outran an SR20DET 240, for what it's worth. I think it would still be cool. Watch that oil pan, I'd hate to see some rod bearings spinning around!

that has actually been done in a first gen crx. i believe it was in a sport compact car or turbo magazine back in 96.

I'd say so too, see what you can do about adding extra baffels. That FR oil pan was made for oil seeking the rear, not the side of the pan. Just put an extra 4 quarts in to be safe

I'd be a treat to see that, esp with a big snail on it.

Wtf? too much *****?...no b series listed? Seems like you have some cash since you have a few swaps laying around...if I were you I'd go ITR...but then again you want a slow car since you dont even want an H...either way it's gonna look fugly hence the teg frontend.

I remember it used to be hard to talk about your OWN car on these forums for fear of being slammed.
First post since work began and I am letting you know where I stand. Axles were addressed. I took a pair of sr20 and d series shafts to a friend who welds. We cut them right down the middle and will get the right measurements in length later. They were surprisingly close in diameter. We will weld them together, AND weld a sleeve on both sides for added strength. Should hold up quite nice.

As far as all you who think an sr20 is a 240, and a 240 is fast. The 240 is twice as heavy as any Civic, Teg or Rex, still only to push 250 or so horses. The car, those who have RACED one, spanked you of the line, then you pulled ahead, hence beating a 240. Swing your B16 Rex 90degrees at 45mph, and discover what the 240 is all about.

As far as motor choices, dseries are everywhere, including what was in my Rex beforhand. Find me a ZC (first choice) with less than 1 million miles, and you can have one of my b18 swaps. H22 is heavy and all of 180 horse. Why not go with the sr20. Price an sr20 swap to a B swap and you can see the choice. As far as cost, on this build cheap! Im using parts I allready have.

Unique-yes- I allready have an Infinity g20(sr20 powered) with a Nissan Primera front end conversion. Furthermore, it glows in the dark courtesy of- well, if I told, there would be other cars out there that glowed in the dark and I would no longer be unique.

Thanks to all those with intrest and positive support. I will keep posted with pics.

Heres a classic case of one of those folk who would rather knock you down than say "way to go". Fugly yes, the damn thing has no windsheild, no more lambo doors, so they are white. Used to be purple with flames on it. Much rust and bondo, and red and brown and crappy interior. I could go on and on about the condition of this Rex. And with 1000 posts, a long time member and obvious fan of Hondas, why would you put an H22 in a Rex. anybody want to fill me in with this. I mean Holy ****, that is the epitamy of slow chief.
HOWEVER, if you were the one with a car with potential like mine, and I wanted it like you probably want mine. In a furious jealous rage, I would belittle you as well.
Dont bother posting a retalitory strike, take it like it is, tell me good luck, and we will pursue our own goals, whatever they may be.

Would love to see pix! Are you thinking of a front drive sr20det such as the jdm pulsar? Could really be unique with a rear drive. With the amount of fabbing you are looking at, the rear end from the 240 shouldn't such a stretch. Good luck and keep us posted.

Break down of the sr20 motors.
Front wheel drive-
BLUEBIRD, GTI-R, SUNNY, SUPER SALLOON, PULSAR, PRIMERA

All wheel drive-
GTI-R, SUNNY, PULSAR, SSS

Rear wheel drive-
BLACKTOP, RED TOP, ANNIVERSARY

I am doing a front wheel drive so motor mounts are about the extense of the fab work.

An sr20det fwd motor would rock in a crx or hatch. We have a red top sr20det in an AE86 and it rocks. The only problem i see you having is the mounts and linkage. Wiring is probably gonna be a pain but that all just takes time and patience.
Good Luck man. post up progress if you do attempt it.

Now as far as what someone said about sr20 swapped 240's being slow. Must have been a stock sr20det you raced, because my crx cant even keep up with a few we have at the shop. Hell even my buddies 04 viper gts w/ 150 shot barely kept up from 60-120mph.

I hear an SR20 pulls a premium around Race Wars. (Insert SR20 into a Honda reference here)
