93 Accord A/C Retrofit
I've got a '93 Accord EX that the air conditioner has completely failed on. Last summer it was cool, but now it's just warm. Does anyone have any info on do-it-yourself R134 retrofit kits, or is this something that should be left up to a mechanic? I'll be keeping the car for at least 5 more years, so it's probably well worth the money to fix.
find the leak, repair the system and recharge it with R12. R134a sucks on the older cars where the a/c system is of s smaller capacity than the newer ones.
If your car does not have them already change your hoses to barrier type and repalce your acumulator/dryer and all of your o-rings.
Once the system has been leak tested by holding a vaccum for at least 12 hrs, you can recharge it.
R134 conversion kits are not worth it cause you will have compressor failure as the PAG oil will gell in the presense of R12 and that is bad news as when that happens your compressor will not be getting lubric ated.
