Default What do the VIN numbers represent in accords after 1998?

I want to purchase a 1998 or later 2-door accord coupe with manual transmission and the 4-cylindar dohc v-tec engine. Does anyone know what the VIN number pattern would be for that particular vehicle. Or better yet does anyone know what the VIN pattern is for 1998-2003 for accords? 5th gen preludes?

Thanks for any help.

Go to an auto parts store and look at the service manual for a 6th gen accord. Details of each digit of the VIN are located in it.

Also, as far as I know there are no 98 or later Accord coupe's that come with DOHC VTEC engine's. They are SOHC engine's in the accords.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking that a DOHC Accord Coupe may be too good to be true. Is there an accord with a V-tec engine at least?

For 98-02 Accords, all LX and EX models had VTEC engines. Only DX models were non-VTEC.

Here's a basic breakdown of the VIN numbers:
http://www.autohausaz.com/hond....html

4th thru 6th positions of VIN (for 98 models):
CF8 = Accord 4 Door I4 non-VTEC (DX model) (also includes the "Value Package" offered during '01)
CG1 = Accord 4 Door V6 VTEC
CG2 = Accord 2 Door V6 VTEC
CG3 = Accord 2 Door I4 (VTEC or ULEV)
CG5 = Accord 4 Door I4 VTEC
CG6 = Accord 4 Door I4 ULEV VTEC (California model)
