putting a d16y8 head on a d16y7 block. couple questions?
can i re-use the y7 timing belt?
before i install the head do the valves need to be in any certain position?
can i re-use my y7 spark plug wires?
anyone know the lbs. or torque for the head bolts?
any tips of the trade from people that did this swap would be great....

dont be cheap and get a new timing belt plus i think you need the one for the head. i dont know much about the y8 y7 swap. make sure when you take your old head off the motor is at tdc and put the new head on at tdc too every thing has to lign up.

 

dont reuse the head bolts too!

Yes you can reuse the y7 timing belt. I did, but I don't recommend it. Not that I've had any problems doing so.

When installing the head, make sure that the crank is at tdc and the cam gear is at tdc.

Yes you can reuse the y7 spark plug wires. I did. They are the same as the y8 spark plug wires.

The headbolt tq is somewhere around 50ft/lbs. Look in a helms manual or search for it.
