has anyone raised this question ?
Lately I have been considering what set of coilovers I will be purchasing for my '89 Civic which will probably end up being more of an autocross car if nothing else than a daily driver. I think I know what I will go with more or less now, but I am still running into one problem: What the crap is up with these 50/50 reviews on the omni's, the skunk2's, the k-sports, etc.?!!!
Just as many people would seemingly put their lives on the line for the particular coilover set that they just so happen to own as there are those who despise them with a passion. Do you guys agree? I don't mean to stir up an argument by any means, I just want to come to some sort of conclusion, which will be interesting to come to nontheless. I also realize money doesn't grow on trees for most of us out there(save some, bless their little hearts), but this summer it doesn't matter to me anymore and I will be doing whatever needs to be done the way I want it to be, cost being no issue.
therefore Im going to reach above the omni, D2, and Ksport shelves to pick up something that doesn't seem to carry so much stink behind them.
What do you all think? I appreciate the replies

Well, when a person says something like "Cost is no issue." and they end up spending a load of dough on a bitter-sweet suspension set up (that they've HEARD is an excellent setup), I can understand how they would want to make themselves believe that it is truly a sweet setup, when in fact, the exact thing they had in mind when spending all their money was less than half the price that they ended up spending (Tein Flex, compared to Omni power:just as an example of price and prestige, not a rating of eithers performance). The "Haters" are exactly the same likely, its just that they spent a supa-load of money on something just as prestigious, but with a different name...both are in the same boat, both unwilling to except that neither setups are "the best".
As to what coilover setup to buy, I dont know best, but just remember that their will be something, somewhere, that IS better (for you) someday.

You can spend a fortune in suspension parts, but the same concept as engine modification applies in the fact that if the suspension parts dont work well and they arent adjusted together..they wont work @ 100%.
I used to hate my Tein flex dampers..thinking they were too lightly sprung and just not as responsive as i liked. Fine tuning everything down to the alignment specs made A WORLD of difference.
Moral is that one setup that works WELL with one persons setup may not work the same on a car thats had little prep time put into it.
