Couple of weeks ago, I stopped by my friend's house and he had Xbox w/a MotoGP game on it. I played it for about an hour and was completely hooked.
I don't have Xbox but I do own a PS2 so I ordered MotoGP3 off the net. It arrived a couple of days ago and I'm kinda disappointed. Don't get it wrong, it's still intense when I see my name up there w/Valentino Rossi and all but it's not what I remembered.
The main difference is the ability to wheelie and stoppie and put one foot down to do some burnouts but besides that, the game felt a lot smoother and easier to control on Xbox.
Since Xbox is now like $150, should I get it? I know there's tons of rad games for it. What other games are available that makes Xbox a must have?

Halo, Halo 2 seem to be the big ones...I've rarely played both and they seem ok. Me and my friend were hooked on top spin for a while. Each console is going to have its few exceptional games and then a lot that are the same no matter what system you play.

Surprise. Surprise. I have both systems and if a game is out on both I will ALWAYS choose it on the Xbox. Your best bet is to wait until Xbox 360 comes out at the end of the year because the price of the regular one will drop like a rock then. Or you could wait and get a 360, assuming it will play all the old games.

When's the 360 coming out? Is it backwards compatible? And how much? I'll google after work.

Are your sure? Have you played MotoGP for Xbox? I think even the Xbox one is MotoGP2.

Here's a review I found on Amazon of a guy that was pretty much in the same shoes as me.

Reviewer: A gamer (CA USA)
I've only owned the PS2, as Gran Turismo is the family video game since the PS1. Being a moto nut, I got Namco's MotoGP2 and 3, and while they're better than nothing, I kept wishing they could've been more like SBK2001 for PC.
I was aware that Moto GP for the Xbox had gotten rave reviews, but there was no way I was going to spend $300 for another console, so I tried to ignore its existence. I couldn't help read the reviews anyway, but they're pretty generic and avoid comparisons between the Xbox and PS2 games (don't want to bite the hands that feed). The few remarks I could find on the net that directly compare the games were brief, and sounded like the usual console partisanship. Anyway, my curiosity (and the $179 price) got the better of me and I finally got an Xbox just for Moto Gp 2.
I realize now why the comparisons are so brief: there's no comparison.
All the best stuff from SBK2001 is there, with better graphics, sound and control. The common thread between Moto GP 2 and SBK2001: Climax developers (THQ is the publisher). There seem to be some serious moto fans in the company, and the result is a real joy to anyone who has any interest in bikes (or an appreciation for apexes). You really have to hand it to Climax--they've managed to create a game that is true to the sport and is also very accessible to the unfamiliar.
At first, I was reluctant to learn a new controller setup for the Xbox game, but I can't imagine playing Namco's game ever again. At identical prices, the Xbox is a steal compared to the PS2, if Climax's Moto GP 2 is any indication of the quality of Xbox titles. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Buy an Xbox off Ebay. You could get it for $100 and you can probably get some games with it. Another good game for you to buy would be Forza. By most accounts its a bit more realistic than GT4 but the Forza folks too the time to add online play instead of trying to add an extra 400 crappy cars like the entire Daewoo line up and the Mercedes motorized buggy coach

You don't really need one because of the internal hard drive but it's nice to have one in case you want to take save games to someone else's house.

noooo
you should've just waited...
they're supposed to come out with some new motorcycle games on ps2 i think. i forgot where i downloaded the clips from, but this one looks badass. and if i remember correctly, on the new moto gp you can also race street bikes. i used to have moto gp 2 for xbox and it kicked ***. then i got the moto gp 3 for ps2 and it sucks so much... i just returned it. i have riding spirits, its an older game but it's not too bad... kinda like a motorcycle gran turismo.

Moto GP series for Xbox isnt made by Namco like MotoGPseries for PS2! Totally different games. Theres a space between the Moto and GP on the THQ game. No space on the Namco. Dont ask me!
If you have a PS2 and want new MotoGP game you'll have to wait for 3Q of this year for MotoGP 4.

...and if you didnt know MotoGP 3 for PS2 is a rare title. Factory sealed copies can fetch over $40 on ebay. Used in good shape is about $30.

I'm with you on that one. The Xbox MotoGP2 is infinitely better than the PS2 MotoGP3. It's as if the PS2 version is a decade older.
I started off as a rookie and I'm regretting it 'cause it's too easy. I should've started off higher. Oh well, at least I'll learn the tracks. I love this game.
BTW, what's all this I hear about upgrading the Xbox? I'm so outta the loop when it comes to videogames. I'm sorry.
