Although, need a little more info to clarify. After it stops does it start again straight away?
If it doesnt start straight away try flicking from accessory to ignition several times and try to start, could possibly be a relay problem, main relay, as it is the relay for fuel pump etc.
What happens is the main relay can break the circuit from the ecu to fuel pump, causing the pump not to pump when the key is turned to ignition prior to starting, if the relay is faulty and does the same thing whilst driving along it will cause the engine to....bam cut out
(blocked fuel filter would do the same thing but stalling wouldnt be quite as sudden, car would splutter or what not) with the pump it tends to happen more instantanious.

No but there was a recall on the ignition switch in the 6th gens I believe. If the car just shuts/cuts out and its not the battery that would lead me to believe its the ignition switch.
Have your mom register here: https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/...honda
They will mail you of services coming up and also notify you of recalls. They also mail you coupons for those interval services. They also show you what is involved with the interval service.
