nope

just make sure the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires are all in good shape, and it can handle about as much power as the F can make

Just like he said oem ignition parts are really functional. If you need more spark say for a NA or FI application then I would upgrade. Most oem ignition parts are good for 100+hp above stock.

50 bucks is a good price though . Don't forget that you will need to get a different dizzy to allow for an external coil if yours is internal.

The whole distributor, or just the cap?

You're the honda technician and you are asking me?

I want to say the whole dizzy because if you just replace the cap you still have the internal ignition components...hey it sounded good in theory .

LOL, just the cap. Doesn't matter if the distributor has an internal or external coil, the one he has will need to be wired up.

i Have a 98 accord f23a1 5speed with a msd pro cap, and the msd Blaster 2 coil, and i have seen nothing but improvment such as: Gas milage, and a slight power gain at higher RPMs so if you have the money i would go for it and later on get a MSD 6AL

yeah, just remove the internal coil and extend the two wires that connect to the internal coil to outside the cap and to the new coil.

But I agree, OEM ignition is sufficient. I would only go with that coil if your stock OEM internal coil was going bad on you and you needed to replace it but do not want to spend the $90 or whatever the dealer charges.

You make it seem like you saw this huge improvement over stock. How much did your gas mileage improve? As for the "slight gain at higher RPM's", how much would you say that gain is and how much time do spend up there? I'm not trying to discredit you, I'm just curious. I had a blaster 2 coil on my 95 EX (F22B1) before. If there was any improvement in anything, it was negligible. Not trying to say MSD is bad, just saying that for people with simple bolt-ons (I/H/E ect.) it isn't worth buying.

well for one i have the whole msd setup : 6AL, Wires, etc.., i have noticed about 1-2 MPG diff and at higher rpms my car doesnt stop accelerating, the msd setup was recomended to me by one of the best honda mechanics around here not saying that he is the best but it did do its job not and the power gain wasnt that much but then again i spent an *** load of money on the AEM V2 intake and it did'nt do jack probably because my car is OBD2 so any improvement to me is worth it. so if your looking for amazing power gain msd is not the way to go however if you are turboing, or doing any major mods i would do it

yeah, see your MPG can very more than that from just the way you drive your car. Thats why I'm saying it's hard to say if that improvement was actually from the blaster coil or not. Don't get me wrong, the blaster coil does do it's job. I just don't want people thinking it's going to give them some boost in performance and then be like "WTF?" when nothing really changes.
