10.2" brake upgrades
I want to upgrade the breaks on my 92 Si hatch before the motorswap+turbo buildup.
I DO NOT want to run 11" rotors because I want to be able to run 14" wheels.
I have vague memories of someone posting up a way to use the Accord wagon calipers on a CRX Si knuckle with a 10" rotor as an alternative to the 90-91 Civic Ex big brake upgrade for the 4th gens.
Anyone know how feasible it is to use the Wagon/ITR calipers on a 10.2" rotor? Are GSR calipers adaquate for the 10.2" rotors or would the setup benefit from the stronger calipers?
Any/all thoughts appreciated.

ITR calipers would probalby hurt your braking performance more than they would help. The larger pistons will create too much brake torque up front, causing your rear brakes not to reach their potential before the fronts lock up. The only benifit to using ITR calipers is the fact that you don't need to replace your knuckles. You still have to worry about the caliper offset though. That involves either 3mm spacers behind the rotors, or shaving the caliper bracket 3mm. Also, there is no guarntee those calipers will fit under your 14" wheels w/o rubbing.
I would go with the GSR brakes personally. They are the perfect match for the heavier DOHC motors, and they bolt right on (as long as you have the knuckles & brake lines too). The only other thing you need to be concerned about is the master cyilnder. GSR calipers, when not used with ABS, require a 15/16" master cylinder. The 91 CIVIC EX 4dr has just that part, and it will bolt on perfectly to your existing booster and brake lines.
The larger ITR calipers require a 1" MC, but none of them will fit your stock booster or brake lines. That means you'll need to replace your booster, and bend & re-flare your existing brake lines.

Precisely!
Investments in finding a set of pads which suit your driving style is usually the best start. From there it is beneficial to understand brake biasing and how to manipulate it for brake balance under the driving conditions youre shooting for.

94EG, yes thats is good advice, and I dont want to undermine you, but would like to make one correction. As far as "requiring" a 1" master cylinder, the ITR and GSR caliper are not the same, but both have a 57mm piston, so the fluild required to create the same pressure would be the same, however the ITR has a larger rotor, thats why the brakes are better, and thats why it would take a larger MC. If a ITR and GSR caliper would both push on a 10.4" rotor, MC wouldnt make a difference.
But yeah, use the 15/16 MC and stock BB cause fitting a 1"MC/BB combo is not gonna be bolt on.
The Wagon/4th gen upgrade your refering to is what I'm gonna check out too. If you keep your small DX knuckles (the 9.5" rotor ones) you can grind off the 3mm from a ITR caliper and this will bolt onto the 9.5" rotor'd knuckle you have on, but you use a 10.4" rotor, like from a EX. This is the equivelent of a GSR brake system, thus youd want the 15/16th Master Cylinder.
So same theory as the 11" upgrade onto civic EX knuckles ****, but your goin to 10.4" and you dont gotta change your knuckles.
