Default Drag Radial Question - At the Drag Strip.

Ok, here's my question. I know at the strip, when you have street tires, you should avoid the water box . With true slicks, you should go through the water box, and warm up your slicks. My question is with drag radials. Should you go through the water box and heat them, or not? Thanks!

The Manufacturers of the drag radials recommend that you use the water box, however the officials at Sears Point and Sacramento will not allow you to use the box...even after much heated discussion...that's what happens when you drive a front wheel drive car they let any rear wheel drive cars use the box regardless of what type of tires they are using.

i think if you do go into the water burnout box, make sure u spin them a little extra longer too really heat up the tire, cause if u dont, what little water that is left in the treads wont evaporate and it will screw up your launch, personally, when i run drag radials instead of slicks,i always avoid the water burnout box,but some race tracks like atco in NJ,you got no choice but to drive thru the water,so i always run slicks at atco.

I second that, if your just using radials and are not going to sit back there for a few seconds spinning, then I would avoid it if possible. You still want to spin them a few times just to warm them up, but nothing drastic. I ran my best times on radials with no burn out at all. Good luck..
