well my ecu threw the infamous code 17 vss. well my haynes manual was very little help and i decided to check to see if the wireing was ok... ofcourse it was fine... well then i decided to look in the engine bay where the problem was created when i replaced my o2 sensor... well the vss isn't a sensor but your speedo cable! to fix your probs try jiggling the spedo cable in and out of the tranny i was suprised to find that mine was moving up and down so i jammed it back in as far as it would go and bingo! fixed... i'm gonna replace the cable though... just thought you all would like to know....

 

there should be a little funny looking clip that holds the cable in the trans

You need the rubber boot at the end of the cable too - the flared end of the boot fit's (encapsulates) the clip so it can't fall out. It will fall out again if you don't get the boot over the clip.

 

Nismo? did the speedomoter work when you were getting the code? Im having the same problem...I replaced the cluster..still geting the code..I guess I should check my tranny now

 

no the speedo didn't work. does now. also ecu isn't throwing o2 or map anymore and i didn't touch those sensors. WOO HOO!!!
