howto install accord lip on lude
just wondering how you guys are installing it. I just got mine and since we all know it overhangs in the wheel wells a bit, and the top part of it doesnt have much material to drill into to make a nut and bolt or one of those plastic rivit setups what else is there.
And did you guys cut the overhanging piece of the lip on each end?
And i searched already, I think shakes put up a link to a site that had pictures, bu tthe site is down.

yes, trim off the over hang with a dremel. the holes for the bolts wont match up either so you need to redrill some new holes into the bumper. the center piece will also need to be cut down slightly because the accord bumper is wider.
the whole problem is that there is not enough material anywhere to in fact drill my own holes. If i trim it, the material thats by the wheel well is elimated so i cant drill holes there anymore. Other then that the only surface to mount it to is in the middle, under the air dam. 1. that alone is not enough support 2. its so thin anyway it wouldn't make good support. cmon someone with the accord type R lip on their prelude help me out

as you can see, those ends have to be trimmed so that takes away that mounting spot. And the spot on top to mount is thinner then the height of a penny. And thats about all there is to mount. Am i missing something here?
PS - those are not my bedshieets

ok...first off:
don't use a drill to drill the holes. use a soldering iron to burn the holes. much easier and cleaner.
don't cut the top flap off the lip. instead, burn holes in the flap that match up to the burned holes in the bumper. then use the stock fasteners to attach it.(the ones that came with the original lip)
i didn't have to trim anything off the accord lip when i put mine on. it's not a perfect fit but it's real close. it just takes some finesse.
if you want pics of the car after install, i can post 'em.

truthfully, all you need to do is trim it right and attach it with simple small screws... Ive done 2 that way... I did one like yokinator mentioned by using a sodering iron.. It worked great, but I still used more screws for reinforcement.. I wish I had some pics I was fond of available to show you... But, its very easy to make it look great. Dont worry so much about not having enough.. Theres plenty... that penny picture even shows that... Just cut it, line it up.. Lay under the car, and it will become obvious how to attach it...
BTW, i was refering to rear lips... but the logic is the same if this is a front one...

yea, looks like its goin to be some epoxy and L brackets. And Ill try the sodering iron where the penny was on that upper lip. maybe ill take some pictures to post up of the modification and install.
ok, i just noticed in the picture that you're lip is a little different than mine. mine has a huge top flap to drill holes in; way bigger than a penny. what accord did you get your lip from?

The 4th gen seems to be wider than the 5th gen, so I don't think it will fit the 5th gen...
So I'm thinking the accord lip doesn't bend perfectly to the 4th gen, so is there any forcing to bend the lip to match up to the curves of the 4th gen ?

Exactly, the accord lip is a lot straighter than the prelude lip so it has to be curved over the bumper
