Default motor is out.. but problems

I finally got my old motor out of my car.. but i ran into a few problems.. as i was lifting the motor out, it didnt clear everything and i hit and cracked that little black charcoal caninster thing on the passenger side firewall side.. i think its where the vacuum line goes, it says 12v on it. the vacuum line is still attached, but i wanna know if this will affect anything. im also having trouble taking that damn shift linkage off, i can see how its done.. but its a biatch. thanks in advance for the help..

Looks like you've met the infamous bitch pin. If you have one of the bolts that hold the AC compressor to the engine use that to pound it out. If you don't have any of those bolts, use a 8mm punch. Just find the biggest sledge hammer you can find and pound the poo poo out of it.
You'll be find if the charcoal canister is cracked, it's mainly just for emission purposes. But you may want to get a new one otherwise it might start leaking fluid.

The charcoal canister isnt really going to affect much, I took mine out years ago, you may smell some minor fuel fumes when your really hauling ***. But I have never smelt anything in mine.

The correct tool to get that out is a 1/4 roll pin punch. get a large hammer and beat that bitoch out.

AbaZ means an 8mm (5/16") pin punch. A 1/4" unit will chew up the inside of the bitch pin as you try to drive it out. Having the right punch makes all the difference....

an exhaust bolt works well when trying to punch out the bitch pin.

Maybe it's just me, but if you're plumbed into the charcoal canister, don't you need it to be in good condition to hold a bit of vacuum?
