Jdm d15b problems
Oka my gas mileage sucks and theres a missing sound in my exhaust at idle.A p28 is controlling everything and from what owners that do have the motor with this ecu say it should run fine.Plug wires are brand new oem and cap and rotor are two weeks old. Also i have no cels what so ever

Oka since i have no idea what a virgin p28 looks like inside can someone let me kno if mine is missing something.Oka below theres a pic of a chipped p28.If you look at the chip that has a green mark on it theres a chip but on mine i dont have one.Is that stock or is that someones work?
The missing sound coming from the sound is a put put sound.Car runs fine tho i think its slow(yah i kno its only a d15).Ugghhh someone must kno whats going on idle surging when electrical stuff comes on and this(been like this ever since i put the motor in).I think im just going to say **** it and order a b20 tomorrow
yeah whats your mileage to the tank...? and MPG?
change out your fuel filter? do that compression test?
theres a surging idle, correct? check vacuum hoses....
sure you have a jdm d15b?
bump for more info
edit, could you have switched your TPS and MAP sensors around?

that ecu isnt chipped fully it is missing a few capacitors and a jumper, also the chip with the green mark on it has nothing to do with the chipping process, only the area inside the dashed white line is where new chips/resistors/capacitors are added. Is the timing set correctly? That would cause the put put noise.
the ecu is socketed, but need to resolder all the joint on the socket and the 20pin chip looked raised up.
as for the misfired try to unplug the spark plug wire on at a time to see if the idle change or not. if the idle changed that plug is good or ok. if not then you either have a bad plug or wire.

i have sort of the same prolblem wit hmine im running the p28. other than it runnin a lil rich from what i heard mines ildles up and down between 900 and 800 rpms once in awhile its becuase of my tps sensor witch i dont know how to fix.
So your using a virgin p28 right? WHile it'll run fine, it won't run the way it(jdm d15b) was meant to run. I forgot, but I read that w/ the p28 it'll run (I think it was) lean. Could that be why?

Im talking about that chip right under the one with the green slash on it.Is that stock or not? cuz i dont have anything in that spot(ecu pictured is not mine).Ill adjust the valves and change pcv but plugs and wires are brand new not even a month old.I have a newer o2 sensor that i can put on as well

relax... calm down... it'll be worth it, just gotta work a lil more...
timing has arisen in the last few replies....
-did u replace the timing belt? make sure its not a tooth off...
-what about your dizzy timing?

Timing belt is a brand new vx belt and not a tooth off but i will check.Timing is advanced and that can possibly be a problem.Im a newb and kno only a few things but ill ask my mechanic to check timing again. Thanks for all the help everyone...........its just very frustrating and im not throwing a code to steer me in the right direction
with a P28 it WILL run a bit rice.. not lean i think !.. an that could also cause you sound from exhuast...!
does you exhuast smell much of gasolin ??..in idle ?

Don't focus so much on the missing at idle as a problem right now. I have that too, but I'm also putting down 192whp and still get 26mpg in town and 35 on the freeway.
You really need to focus on timing. Make sure that the cam is zeroed to the crank. Most people who are inexperienced with the D15B time it like a Z6. You need to set the crank at TDC, Have the "up" mark on the cam gear facing up. Now, align the two lines that are 180* out with the two "P08" marks on the plastic cover behind the cam gear. Once that is done, reassemble the timing belt cover. Start the engine, and let it come up to normal operating temp. Insert a wire in the service check connector, and make sure the ECU is in service mode (the CEL should illuminate). Unplug the IACV and set baseline idle to 470 rpm. Reconnect the IACV and make sure it idles between 750 and 800 RPM. Now set the timing at the distributor to 16* BTDC. That would be the red line in between two white lines on your crank pulley.

There is a silkscreened number for that chip on the board. If you are missing IC4, that would be normal. If you are missing IC9, that is a problem, and your ECU will need repair.
