Default To tune or not to tune?

Hey everyone whats up I own a 99 Honda Civic EX with a USDM OBD1 B18C1 inside. Now my ? is I just recently "had" to have my head/block rebuilt also had to replace somethings. My current set-up will be JDM ITR pistons/rings skunk2 valves ITR retainers and springs Apexi Header/Apexi Exhaust/AEM intake.. I also have a bore making my comp 11.1.... My ? is should I get tunned and if so how should I have it done? I know when the comp gets up there that there is a chance of detinating but I dont think i'm that high I just want my motor to be tuned so its safe and will run strong

PLEASE HELP ME THANK YOU!!!

DEFINITELY get it tuned. i recommend doing it even on stock motors.

st00pid tuned my stock B18C R (96spec) to 172whp on Neptune. same as what guys are making with I/H/E on the same motor.

I recommend Neptune or Hondata.

Every setup is different. Its always a good idea to tune your setup to try and maximize your results.

I have seen plenty of setups make extremely simular power tuned vs 1st run on a basemap or chipped ecu.

Btw, 172 whp ? What kind of dyno.
Most of the Jdm R motors I tune on dynojets make 179-183 whp and 129 tq with i/h/e

It was done on a Dynojet 224x, i think with an SAE correction of 1.04. I've seen most 98spec motors make that much, but not too often do you see a 96spec do as well. (i have a 96spec )

We only gained 9whp over stock peak, but picked up over 24tq and 15hp from 2400rpm to 4500rpm. I'm also getting better gas mileage, running smoother, and less pinging.

If you get a obd 1 ecu and conversion harness and tune through Hondata or Crome or Neptune or Uberdata you will get the best tune. But if u wanna pass emmisions you will either have to swap back to obd 2 at emmissions time or tune with a VAFC..... Correct me if i'm wrong on this one
