Default GSR cams in a b16a worth it?

My b16 was a auto and I was wondering if putting some GSR cams in it would pep it up a bit. Any ideas on what year to get?

Well, I need to do somthing. I was told it only put down 115 with a DC header, Skunk2 cat back and a STR rail/reg. Would it dyno low becouse of a LS trans?

i dont think an ls tranny would hurt the numbers that much. your puttin down about 25 hp less than most stock b16 do. you may have other issues you need to look into.

If you'd like to try a set of GSR cams anyway I have a set I'd let go for dirt cheap, but unless you have automatic B16 cams you probably wouldn't notice any difference. I think you also need to do a line hone on the head before you use the GSR cams....not sure if that is correct or not.

**** man!! You are in the exact same boat as me. I also have a B16 that came from an auto, and am running a LS tranny. IT dynoed at 114! I bought a set of GSR cams and fidanza gears but have yet to install them (car is being painted). After researching I found that the GSR cams would make a very noticeable difference. So IMO it was worth the $100 investment on a set, + $160 on the brand new gears. I bought the GSR valve springs/retainers as well, but will not be using them on this head.

if they are mad cheap, then it is worth it. the 16 auto cams are stupid weak. they peak at about 7K, and drop off radically after that. the gsr cams, or, 5spd b16 cams even will make a noticable difference.

if u got it laying around i would say go for it but if ur gonna spend some money on cams i would say save up and least get some ctr and itr cams. ull be much happier with the results.

Personally, if you have a set lay around, do it. If you need to buy, spend the money on other cams.

I had a B16A with stock internals and bolt ons that made 161Whp and 119Tq with GSR cams.
